I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.
- Agatha Christie
and that is a great quote
I've been thinking about true sorrow. I mean what is truly the most sorrowful thing I can remember, and it was when my grandpa died.
My mom was a daddy's girl. She loved him so much, and I didn't really know him that well. But I knew how hurt she was. That was truly the most sorrowful thing I've ever experienced. I wept so hard I thought I would throw up over his casket and my uncle had to take me out of the room. That was when I was eleven.
But I haven't felt that much sorrow since. I think I'm very fortunate or very detached.
I don't think I've ever been wildly, acutely, miserable. That's quite a description.
I have been miserable, but it passed, just like gas.
I would totally agree that just to be alive is a grand thing. Especially on a day like today. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
