Happy Mondays are featured on the Dream Ticket show on BBC 6 radio this Monday. Makes me fucking wish I was off work Monday but I can always listen to it next weekend. I think they leave them up for a week.

I don't understand why they keep changing the host for this show. This guy is third one, there were two ladies before him, and maybe more.
Why does everyone always have to choose "Red Right Hand" as the song by Nick Cave they play on the radio? I mean yeah, that was the best song off that album, but come on, can't they play anything different? Argh. I'm fed up with this crap.
The other board is still down and I feel like I'm being punished, honestly. For that thing to be down for all of Thanksgiving holiday/weekend is just cruel and unusual.
Okay you Happy Mondays freaks...

I'm listening to Scritti Politti in session on Marc Riley's program, though needless to say the rest of the programme I had to endure to get here has been a hell of a lot of crap. Most offensive was this new Beatles thing everyone keeps talking about - remixes by George Martin or whatever - they fucking took the guitar part from "Hey Bulldog" (one of my fave Beatles songs ever) and spliced it smack dab in the middle of "Lady Madonna". I mean that pissed me off, I'm serious. That shit is just WRONG. You do NOT take pieces of Beatles songs and insert them into other Beatles songs, okay? NO.
And I'm still pissed off that Scritti Politti conveniently ignored the entire Pacific NW on their tour. Bitter? Me?

And they followed the Scritti session with Nick Drake. Now I'll shut up. God, what a relief. I guess it's just a Nick Drake weekend, I can't get away from it, and I'm sorry, I shall grumble no more. The truth is, someone else's bad mood rubbed off on me tonight. Really, that's me being honest. Just give me my Nick Drake and turn off the crap and I'm okay.
Now I've switched to the Dream Ticket and they're going to play Bruce Springsteen! The horror! Peel couldn't stand him either. Fuck this BBC radio shit, I've had it. I will not be subjected to this anymore.
I'm going back to Blur b-sides. Or maybe I will pull out Oasis' "Masterplan". Yeah, that's what I'm going to do right now.

Here's a list of bands/artists I absolutely can't stand:
AC/DC
The Proclaimers (you know the song I mean - 'I would walk one hundred miles' - yeah I woudn't walk a goddamn inch for those cunts)
Bruce Springsteen
John Cougar Mellencamp
Primus (yeah they make me want to die, I'm serious, turn that fuckin' shit off)
Canned Heat - you know that band that does "going to the country" from the 60's?
Mariah Carey (the high notes should be banned from the earth)
Dire Straits (this almost goes without saying, though like John Peel himself, I have a soft spot for Sultans of Swing too as long as we don't tell anyone. I've no doubt that if his wife hadn't finished the book Peel never would have admitted this to anyone of his own free will)
Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You" (one of the most unbearable songs on the planet)
The Fabulous Thunderbirds - remember them? "Wrap It Up" was that the name of it? Oh god. Nauseating.
Anyway Oasis' Masterplan is making me real happy right now. I'll try to think of some other bands I hate.

Another weird thing about that documentary I saw about Brit Pop (called "Live Forever") was toward the end the interviewer said that Liam was androgynous. I thought that was insane! I mean I am all for androgyny but I never in my whole life ever thought of Liam as androgynous. That threw me for a loop.
He didn't seem to give a shit that the interviewer said he was androgynous but that was all in line with his whole attitude. He was just playing the cool lunkhead, as usual.
He'd be shit without his brother if you don't mind me saying so.

Also I really object to the Streets. On the grounds that British music's strength has always been either good TUNES or INNOVATION. You'll get neither with the Streets. The Streets leave me starved for melody.
I think Masterplan is the best Oasis CD ever, though, I really do think that. Better than any of their albums. Not that I can pretend I've cared enough to listen to whatever their latest one is.
