Radiohead - again

Post by marky »

I haven't pulled out Radiohead in YEARS. But I've been playing this CD I have of their show in Washington state 2001 at the Gorge. It was the best gig I've ever been to in my life. I don't know why I have a CD of it, I just do. Don't ask any questions.

So now I've even pulled out their b-sides and everything. But mostly it's this show they did in 2001 that just soothes me like nothing else can right now. I feel like I have an emotional wound that only Radiohead have the medical supplies to deal with.

They were abosolutely kings of the whole musical world circa June 2001. But I can't seem to get into the idea of listening to a Thom Yorke solo album because I'm especially attached to who they were AS A BAND, all of the members, even the drummer. I need them to work together. I need them to transcend boundaries. I need them to release a new album. They said it's coming in 2007.

"Ice age come and ice age come and

Take the money run take the money

Here I'm alive, everything all of the time"

What song is that? Idioteque? I can't remember
which song that is but I love it. I'll tell you later if I got it right.

They just take all my pain away, they do. All of it, gone, just gone.

Radiohead have the potential to be up to 3 times better live than on record, I have heard plenty of gigs. No one in the world could stop them live. Not as godly as Kate Bush, but approaching it, etc.

Wel I haven't seen Kate live but I did see the two tone tour in 1979. Dexy's and the Selecter and the Specials all on one bill. I also saw the Undertones and the Housemartins at the peak of their powers.

Anybody here like Lambchop? They fucking rock.

Well you shouldn't feel bad at all about not seeing Kate. She hasn't done shows since one tiny very choreographed UK tour in 1979. She did, however appear with Pink Floyd on stage, helping sing vocals for Pink Floyd's well known song "Comfortably Numb" circa 2000. After all if it weren't for David Gilmour, Kate would never have had her big break. No Pink Floyd, no Kate.

But I'm playing Radiohead's Kid A right now and I'm just in awe. Completely awestruck. I haven't played it for years. Nothing released in 2006 is even half as exciting as that, are you kidding?!

But yes, it's wonderful to hear from you on the board, Tommy. And I would so dearly love to have been at a Dexy's/Selector/Specials/Housemartins show. Even that's not the worst, though because my friend in Glasgow just told me he saw Vini Reilly ten years ago and got his autograph on which he scrawled mysterious musical notation. JEALOUS, ME? BLOODY FUCKING HELL OKAY???? Sometimes I just want to do harm to my friend cause he has all these better bands playing his town than me. Ever since Billy Bragg, it's been dead as far as gigs go round here. I won't tell you the name of the long gone Factory band that he said will play his town soon! IT IS NOT FAIR NOT FAIR NOT FAIR

Although the Slits are playing here does that count? Tommy you know who the Slits are don't you? I was never all that into their music but my friend tells me they're doing a DJ set at this smaller club, after their proper gig. Who am I to turn it down, for god's sake the gigs around here have been crap for the last few months! Tell the Brits to get their butts over here now!!!!

By which I don't mean to offend Pet Shop Boys and Hot Chip, who actually are doing or have done shows here. But it's just not something I'd pay money to see.

Please send more Brits our way. Scritti Politti played several places in the U.S. and missed the Pacific NW entirely this year. Same thing happened with the Blue Nile this year.

Please god, throw the old Brit bands my way.

God, you just don't understand what Radiohead's Kid A is doing to me right now. You just don't understand. Like I said, there's been nothing even a third as interesting as that to come out all year.

hmm I just finished another CD for you and I put some radiohead on it before I read this thread... hmm

but yeah they do have an amazing show, I actually saw them in 2003 during their hail to the theif tour and even that was fucking amazing. Actually I saw them the next summer in the Uk... or was it that summer... I can't remeber - but when I was in the UK.
