THIS IS A FUNERAL FOR MY STEREO SPEAKERS

Post by marky »

First it was my record player that broke, now my speakers. My precious speakers. The ones made by Jensen so long ago that if you open their fronts up it says in big letters at the top right hand corner "Jensen (little picture of a CD) Compact Disc Ready"

It means that no matter how loud I turn it up, it still sounds like it's coming through headphones. Last night I thought it was just because of something I must have accidentally done while drunk but I could find nothing wrong with any of the wires or connections or even the settings on the receiver. I started to get so upset that I just couldn't deal and made myself think of other things. Then when I woke up later I tried it again and realized it had nothing to do with me being drunk and remembered that I had smelled a burning smell last night coming from them when I was playing music. You laugh but I wasn't playing it any louder than I normally would on a weekend night. When I checked the internet, some folks said they had the same burning smell from their speakers, but that the speakers themselves worked fine.

The whole thing is very upsetting, but I'll deal. I was thinking about my Sonic Youth tapes, though - you see, I thought the song I heard on the radio this past week was "Dissapearer" from Goo but it wasn't at all. It was a song from Dirty called I think "Teresa's Sound-World". And I thought to myself how absolutely fucked I would be right now if I didn't have this Sony boom box cause I wouldn't even be able to play tapes properly without that. Although I guess I could listen to it in headphones. But I don't want to. I need new speakers.

The speakers I had before that are still at my parent's house and if you were to look at the back of one of them you would see the letters "JOY DIVISION" and the Factory "F" symbol seen on the cover of Still.
