Shins

Post by marky »

It's been a long time since I gave two shits about the Shins, but last night at the bar they played the first track from their first album. Song called "Caring is Creepy", album called "Oh Inverted World". I found a strange relief in hearing this again. Even though I sold the CD a long time ago. I actually flipped over that album when it came out in oh god...I think it was 2001? I really didn't think I'd want to hear it again, but I'm playing it now and I'm finding it really calming, it puts me at ease to hear this album again.

I hear they actually have something new out called "Wincing The Night Away". It's supposed to have more electronics. I don't know whether I should bother or not. By the time of their second album I just felt they sounded irritatingly pretentious.

Anyway, look, listening to this album again just makes me feel so spooked and weird that I can't think about anything else. I can't post online or anything, I'm just...freaked. It's not bad, just makes me feel weird in a Halloween way I guess.

Shuddering. Never thought I'd hear this again. Didn't think I cared. Don't understand it. Scares me a bit.

It should remind me of things I wouldn't want to be reminded of, but instead, it doesn't remind me of those things at all. All the poison has been purged of it.

Thank god it's over, though. I need to hear something that will affect me less intensely than that. Notice I didn't mention Wire yet. I've got a big Wire trip on the horizon, watch the fuck out.
