Twistin' Marky's Melon Man

Marky--

Your thoughts on World of Twist. Their leader just died. They only made one album. But many people think it is the lost 'Madchester' classic.

**very drunk now**

I know, dear, I know. But the problem is they weren't that good. (shhhhhhhhhhhh...please god don't let me say a Manchester band wasn't good) Honestly, McC, I just don't think they were very good. I had a Manc bands comp. once and the song was probably not even Hannett related, but it was still boring.

Much as I love Martin Hannett, his distinctiveness as a producer died in a pretty big way, post-1985. There are some things after that that he produced and there's just nothing of the brilliant earlier Hannett at all in these recordings. World of Twist was one of them.

Also did you know John Cale produced the first Happy Mondays album? John Cale from the Velvet Underground?

The weekend belongs to me, darling.

When you wake up and realized you slept through Tony Wilson's radio show, you'd drink too.

"Good evening, we're called the Velvet Underground, you're allowed dance if you didn't know..."

Lou Reed will slay me very soon now.

It just happened to be in my CD player

"I'm Waitin' For My Man"

"Hey, boy? What you doin' uptown/Hey BOY you chasin' all our women around!/Oh pardon me sir/it's furthest from my mind/I'm just waiting for a dear dear friend of mine/I'm waiting for my man/Here he comes, he's all dressed in black he's never early he's always late first thing you learn is that you always gotta waiit

I'm waiting for my man

And if you're not careful, I'll play a Nico version of this song real soon. Cause she continued to sing that song live long after she hadn't seen Lou Reed in years.

I told you I am a Velvet Underground whore. And I'll not say it again.

Don't you know how much I love Lou Reed?

That's why I'm a Velvet Underground whore.

Seriously though when he does "I'm Set Free" on
the Live at Max's Kansas City CD oh god in heaven.

Bowie is over rated. Only the Brits really like him.

same with the Who and the Jam.

But I run with that crowd. I'm learning.

Manchester is where it is at.

Someone should do a book about why Manchester and New York make such sweet love.
