so tony is out (family reasons)
mc says he may not make it (which to me sounds like: sorry, no way)
sloth and wife? you are still welcome.
am i missing anybody else?
people: come on over, it will be a bash. my home town is not particularly pretty (unless the sun is shining, when everything looks quite different) but it is interesting. frankfurt happens to be the only major city in germany where the river is a main focal point. on nice days there is always something happening on the riverbanks, and you can expect to meet someone likeable when you take a stroll.
during the Cup, (i will no longer use the abbreviation WC) they will have this giant LCD screen on the riverbank where all can come to watch the games, free of charge. for important games 30,000 viewers are expected so it will be a party for sure, even for those (like me) who could not get tickets.

Well it's a little late to change plans. You make it sound great though. Too bad people bailed on something I was looking forward to all winter.
Greece is not such a bad place to watch the world cup anyway. Everyone looks like me and smells worse.

hi there dearie. always glad to help.
however: i don't know this guy your prof so how should i know what he is interested in?
i always say there are cities you can get to know by walking, there are cities you can see by bike, and there are some where you need a '76 chevy econovan with a big mattress inside so that you can have a nap everytime you are tired of the traffic and/or have had too much to drink and/or to smoke. (my home town belongs to the first category, nyc to the first and second, berlin to the second, and LA to the third.)
prepare yourself with one of the many online guides available such as
http://www.wcities.com/en/city/9/city.html, or better yet, get a dorling kindersly guide. then mosey around town in your chosen means of transportation and indulge in the details of whatever you find most attractive.

you are in greece in july, no matter: the cup ends on july 9.
you are working during all june but why not find a weekend to fly down?
in such cases i like to leave things up to fate. go online right now and check out the cheapo flights. if there is something bookable for you two then by all means come, it will be memorable. how often does something memorable beckon?

I'm happy you posted a pretty picture Martino! I hope you will post more pictures later, eh? Rest assured I would be first in line to go, were it not for, as Massive Attack sing "money money money...root of all evil" $$$. Heheh.
Tell us all about it man, I can't get tired of this!
Surely since Sloth will be so close by, he can make it there?

Also as much as I love L.A. I prefer cities where you can WALK! That is great.

How about over Midsommer? There should be some good matches by then, right?
I need to get out of Sweden around then anyway... or I'll be trapped freezing in the summer cabin in Northern Sweden with no electricity and running water visiting 80 year old relatives who don't speak English.
I did that once. I think once was enough. My idea is roughing it is staying in the Holiday Inn and watching network TV.

"Sloth quite rightly named as myself, Sarah and Pixie. Who shall share the blame of the boredom of this board, but it is not our fault etc. that no one else will post.:
well, i tried to start a fight with you and called you a dumbass, but i really don't have the attention span or the personal connection to you to maintain a truly heartfelt angry disagreement with you. to me that's boring.
cheers for keeping the board alive mark and pixie and me, with our weirdness and easy offenses.
and have fun in folks in germany!

Fankfurt games
June 10th England v Paraguay
June 13th S.Korea v Togo
June 17th Portugal v Iran
June 20th Holland v Argentina (This could be one of the games of the touranament)
July 1st Quarter final number 4
My kids get out of school on June 7th. I've just checked expedia and I could get a flight from London for a few days either side of the 20th for $166 The missus wants some time with the kids. She leaves the USA for the summer on June 1st. I really would love to get out there. If I can work it out, I will.

I will check and see when midsommer is and get back to you. Do we have to chip in and get the mc a ticket? If we throw in a hundred bucks each (me, tony, and martino) maybe we could subsidize it for him?

sloth: are you joking? what's up?
