you know I can honestly say - I have never seen a "spillage" of skin ... maybe that's just the WASP population at my school in which if you have a spillage of skin over your jeans, you best not wear them.

I couldn't find a picture of quadroboob :(

Actually reading that link now that I posted on Muffin top for Sarah (I didn't have time at work today) and laughing my arse off, I'm afraid. It just seems like such a funny term and the irony is I just made more pumpkin muffins tonight. In fact I have some more to say about my pumpkin muffins but I'll say that later.

Anyway, the thing is this: it seems to me there is a continuum that is being overlooked here. Almost anyone wearing low rise jeans (well, female I mean, we are talking females here right?) is going to have a muffin top as far as their hips go. I mean, that's what happens with low rise jeans, you get the fat at the hip showing (which I've never understood the appeal of, exactly, but then I guess fashion designers have run out of ideas by now - that fat on the hip is actually gorgeous in the context of the entire female body, but hanging out of the jeans seems unnatural to me and I've heard it's quite uncomfortable as well). So then they're talking about midriffs and god I just don't know. I don't see that many young kids anymore since I quit the bus route that went by the high school so I'm not in touch with these trends I guess. It seems to me when I've seen low rise jeans, the midriff showing has been minimal. But I guess amongst a large population of kids, they must see this sort of thing. Anyway.

About my pumpkin muffins. They turned out to be the same awkward, half inch tall disks (kindof like hockey pucks, actually) even though I used baking soda and followed the recipe nearly to the T. So I have figured out why this is happening to me now. It's actually because I've got some weird muffin cups. These muffin cups, which I bought at a health food store, do not stay in a tight circle readily but tend to spread out into a wider circumference than they should, indeed they are spread out even to begin with. I only really noticed this because I bought a new batch of the same brand of muffin cups tonight that I was surprised to find these were sturdier and more tightly round. So I'm not bitching really - who cares about the shape if they taste good? But I think it's funny that the culprit in the end was the muffin cups themselves.

I also tried my damndest to find that Pumpkin Ale tonight that I so dearly loved with all my heart but it's gone, gone gone. It's almost a reason to live another year just to taste that stuff again.

Also, reading your post again Pixie I now realize I have been confused by the following quote:

""quadro-boob (ya know - when you'r bra is too big so it's like you have two mini tits popping up ontop of your tits...)"

You guys are actually talking about the very same thing I was when you said quadro-boob but I was confused because it says 'when your bra is too BIG' - what you really mean is it was too SMALL.

So okay we are the same page now. I feel better.

Also it's beginning to occur to me when I'm talking about muffin cups it sure sounds like bra cups in context of what we're talking about! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I was under the impression that muffin tops were the rolls of fat that pop over low rise pants. I don't think it's a comment on the body as such, more a comment on the wrong sort of garment for a body type. A bad fashion statement. A combover for the hips. If you don't want people commenting on the fat around your midriff then don't hike up your top and drop your waistband. Same goes for belly button rings on beer guts.

Both of you are making me laugh out loud, now, stop it. hahahaha

Pixie I didn't mean I had a bad muffin pan. My problem is I don't even HAVE a muffin pan. I just put these flimsy muffin cups onto a cookie sheet. Now do you see my problem? In my parents' house I used to have a real muffin pan, I used to grease it with butter myself! But that's ancient history. Nostalgic folklore. Anyway I've got better muffin cups now, so we'll see.

Tommy...I don't even know what to say to you. We miss you terribly around here.

Good news! I actually bought a muffin pan. Until you had mentioned it Pixie, I admit the idea simply wouldn't have occured to me, since I haven't had or used a muffin pan since I used to live with my parents. I've used muffin cups for years. Not that I even cook muffins very often. This is stretched out over many years. But so I got fed up and finally bought a muffin pan. So my muffins finally had the right shape. But I think I added too much eggs and milk because they're not dense enough. Always something wrong. I'll still eat them, they're good. But I haven't perfected the intuition of my custom made pumpkin muffin recipe here. I'm still working on the perfect pumpkin muffins. Trial and error.

heh I bake all the time - today I made mini-cupcakes for the kids who'll come over tonight after a night out at Atomic Cowboy. :)
but I think my buttercream frosting is a little thin cause it took two coats to get a thick enough coat to stick berries in. :(

Good lord you put berries in the frosting? Wow. I just bought some bags of frozen berries today. I'm going to thaw them and mix with plain yogurt.

no I put little blueberries and strawberies and raspberries on top of the cupcakes for decoration. - cause I bake to make cute looking things.
Sometimes when I'm at a loss for a blog entry I'm really tempted to take pictures of my baking projects or something.

Well Pixie! You beautiful gal! Putting fucking blueberries and strawberries on top of cupcakes is far too good an idea!

Incidentally I've never made cupcakes. My dad was a cook so because of that I did make some things regularly as a kid. Muffins was one thing...I think I used to make popovers. And cakes, too, though I always used the boxed mix. I wouldn't do that now. No sir. I wouldn't even attempt to make a cake now, really, boxed mix or not.

Anyway I can't remember if you were on the board back when I made scones about 2-3 years ago? That was cool but I think to be frank I'm just done with baking for awhile. I'm even tired of making muffins now and I've got scores of them to eat.

I used to make coffee cake for my mentally ill adult clients though when I worked the graveyard shift. That was good. But I got bored of that too and so did they. No any kind of baking just bugs me right now. I don't even want to make pancakes right now, and I love those.
