Name dropping

Everbody likes to hear about movie stars and that so I'll tell this story. In no way do I wish to give the impression that I hang with the in crowd or want to. I just thought you would like to hear this. Last night I was at a drinks party at the in laws. Apart from my parents in law and my two sisters in law there were four guests. They were all clients of my father in law who is a finance guy. My f in law handles money for some very rich people. Normally though, they are from Ohio and from old families or are with Proctor and gamble or GE (who are based in Cincy) Two of these guys are different though. They are hollywood writers and producers. They live on a street where (and I might get this mixed up) Steven Speilberg has a house, Goldie Hawn has a house - where she moved after she lived across the street - where Adam Sandler lives now. Nicole and Tom used to live next door and Sugar Ray Leonard still lives facing. Anyway I got two stories out of last night. Over the years they have had two block parties. At the last one they discussed the fact that they should all get some cash and leave it lying around the house. The thinking is that, if they ever got robbed the robbers wouldn't believe that people as famous as them wouldn't have cash lying around.
I was asked if my kids still listened to Raffi (He is a famous kiddie entertainer) I replied that they did. I was told that a number of years ago half of the Hollywood big hitters turned up at a fundraiser at Rob Reiner's house. Part of the gig was that Raffi was going to entertain the kids. Just before he was due to go on Raffi had a moment and decided that he was a "serious" artist and that he wasn't going to sing these silly songs anymore. He was going to be himself. Apparently Rob Reiner went and had a word with him along the lines of, I've got a big gang of very important people here and you are going to make their kids happy or you won't even have the career you don't like.
