I posted this on another thread mistakenly:

It's weird sometimes when your obsession about UK music leads to hearing so much about very popular UK television programmes that you have no idea what they're like through your own experience. Examples: Coronation Street. Dr. Who. The Prisoner. You can't even get The Prisoner on video here, I tried once. I saw a lot of Dr. Who episodes for rent in the video shop tonight and came very close to renting one just for the hell of it but passed in favor of some other films. I was kindof miffed that this new John Waters film was completely rented out already even though they had about 12 copies to rent out. I don't know a lot about John Waters films, but I've always meant to stick my toe in eventually, see what they're really like. And this one has Tracey Ullman in!

Pecker....might be my favorite too.

Although Cry Baby (the facial expressions on that ugly girl -Hatchet face are classic) and Serial Mom are also damm good.

Serial Mom-
Kathleen Turner making obscene phone calls-
"Is this the Cocksucker residence??"
...Stop calling me!
"Isn't this 4215 Pussy Way??"
..You bitch!
"Let me check the zip-212FuckYou?"
..I'm calling the police!
"Well how come they're not here fuck face?

Pecker sucks. Hate is worse.

With Jon Waters films you have to go way back to Devine. But his best is still Hairspray. When I was in film school a classmate came out to me by showing me John Waters films. He was later shot to death outside a club for being gay by a man from Mississippi- this man rode a Grey Hound Bus up to Madison, Wisconsin because he heard there were a lot of faggots there. The killer got off the bus, walked 2 blocks and shot my friend in the parking lot. He stole my friend's car and tried to drive to Canada. He was caught before he reached the boarder. During the trial he sat on the witness stand and said given the chance he would do it all over again. My friend's name was Mark Starkey. Mark's parents didn't know he was gay until his death. The murder was the first 'official' Hate Crime in the Midwest.

Nice going

Have your mum and your sisters asked you to stop drinking at family gatherings? Or have they asked you to drink more?

It's neat looking back at childhood and noticing how many John Waters films I saw before I was 13. My favorite then was Serial Mom, wth Cry-Baby in a close 2nd.

I hated people who got chubbies for Grease, and hated Grease. I remember thinking "Cry-Baby was so much better".

I think their rank stands.

Two shades of irony in the midst of tragedy: He'll probably be the bitch of first a large black man, later of a large white nazi just for protection. And, he likely did this because of a strong reaction formation of himself feeling gay-flashes.
