i laughed and laughed, and then laughed some more. and i wasn't even stoned (and people say you really do enjoy this wes anderson movie after a few joints).
some people say the movie is boring, that bill murray isn't an actor, that there is no real story to it. well why don't they stay home fer chrissakes if they don't like this kind of movie.
i, in contrast, say the jokes are absurdly funny, the primary-colored cinematography is gorgeous, and the character portraits are lovingly detailed in both casting and acting. murray is interestingly, laconically depressive; owen wilson (who is getting to be a first-rate comedian) is a splendidly weird former pilot of kentucky national airlines (with a cool mcmyke accent to boot); cate blanchett is the most beautiful gum-chewer on the planet and willem dafoe is the odd german guy i always wanted to be.
and, and this is a big and, the music is by david bowie!!! (albeit sung in portuguese, which in itself is weird enough to deserve praise).
