gorgeous on a fatass wide screen: great cinematography, glorious scenery, persuasive effects. thus not at all boring despite a length of almost three hours.
but why does di caprio always look and sound like a boy stuck in a man's suit? i am saying this while i acknowledge that he does some fine acting in aviator. still, he is just so child-prodigial, so cute, so ungrownup that it annoys me.
and am i the only person who is unconvinced by cate blanchett's over-acting?
and where is the psychology? wherein the cause or at least the explanation for howard hughes' mental disease? what made him tick? was it just boys-with-toys taken to the extreme, or something more, something substantial, something of greater interest?
somebody please explain this to me, so that i can enjoy this good-but-flawed movie better. thank you.
