The Rebel

Post by mccutcheon »

Actor Marlon Brando has died at age 80. The death occurred at an undisclosed Los Angeles hospital Thursday, attorney David J. Seeley said Friday. The cause of death was being withheld, Seeley said, noting the actor "was a very private fat old man." Brando revolutionized American acting with his Method performances in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "On the Waterfront" and went on to create the iconic character of Don Vito Corleone in "The Godfather."

Is that true? If so, that's really fuckin' weird, because just yeterday I was wondering if there would be a big media thing when Brando dies, or if his solitude in recent years would have let the public forget him.

I'm not as enamored with him as some actors, but you have to respect his amazing talent and intensity. And he was personally responsible for helping usher in a radical change in acting style that has influenced all actors and directors ever since.

I'll feel silly if this was one of McCutcheon's jokes...

Brando's dead?

I didn't even hear about it. What the fuck? Wasn't he like the most popular actor of the 20th century? Reagan the fucking idiot dies and you can't get away from it if you try. Brando dies and its like Harry Smith from Cleveland dies.

He did...and there's been very little coverage. I think it sucks, although perhaps that's the way he wanted it. He was pretty weird and reclusive for the last 20 years or so. Especially since his son was on trial for murder in 1995.

Well, that's one of the worlds best actors gone, and another 25 Ashton Kutchers won't be able to fill the gap.
