just an opinion

Post by Kitten »

i think people that're obsessed with the movie a clockwork orange are kind of wierd. i think it's good in a cinematic or filmography sense, whatever the word is, but the thoughts and ideas and theories behind it are disturbed. i met this guy i thought was cool but then i found out that he was obsessed with that movie and like took it really seriously so i kind of don't talk to him anymore. i think that loving that movie means you're kind of perverse and messed up. but it's just an opinion and i'm sure i'll get plenty of angry, indignant replies.

and by the way, the cops aren't taking my family away after all. daddy got a bunch of lawyers and republican political cronies to vouch for him so they backed off. i never thought i'd actually be grateful to his bourbon-inhaling-conservative-hypocrite friends. my dad is the head of south carolina state taxes, no one fucks with him and gets away with it.

I like Clockwork Orange... the film's interesting; but the book is better.
I won't deny that I'm fucked up; I probably am. But it's a harmless fucked up, really.

The book and the movie are both pretty fucking cool. I forget what the moral of the story is. Original sin? Or is the moral that being a psychotic killer is better than being a mindless brain sucked person? Or is it a parody of liberals who think everyone is just misunderstood?

Someone help me out. How does the book end again? Doesn't he get 'cured', unlike the movie where he gets cured but still wants to rape and kill everyone? It's been 13 fucking years since I read the thing. I lost a lot of brain cells since then.

I'm not sure I really grasp what the movie is about, but it's weird, so I like it for that reason. At least it pokes fun at the media, television, you know.

It's interesting this movie comes up now, though because in my recent music travels on the web (I've found this message board just for music-obsessed trivia heads/nerds/geeks like myself, and it's rather addictive!) I came across a mention of the SOUNDTRACK of the film which was apparently done by a transsexual named Wendy/Walter Carlos, who was also responsible for the soundtrack of The Shining and was considered a real electro-music pioneer.
