Something About Rainbows

Post by mccutcheon »

My favorite song of this past summer has been the lovely ballad Something About Rainbows by Kermit the Frog. Because if you stop to think about it, there really is something about rainbows. Also, My Red Hot Car by Squarepusher ain't bad.

See what happens when you are writing a novel? Too much fucking time alone. Hope someone will publish the piece of shit someday. The line starts here!

Something About Rainbows

my novel is about a young writer who has 15minutes of fame with his first novel, gets loads of a cash advance for the standard three book deal. Then he has writer's block and moves to Paris for inspiration, only it is still not coming, but his two college buddies do come over for a backpack around Europe trip. He hasn't seen them since he got famous. hilarity follows surely. along with sex drugs and rock and roll: train trips, sex on the beach, falling off ferries, Greek cab drivers who know all the lyrics to every REM song even though they don't speak English, Topless French teenagers, Ouzo, wine, beer, vomit, train stations, introducing English girls to peanut butter, being saved from drowning by an Australian surfer babe, questions of what is literature, and can writing for entertainment be of worth if it keeps the kids away from MTV?, behind the scenes of the BBC, why Americans are stupid, why Americans are nice, pop culture clashes, Italian ice cream, Kate Moss's best friend, and even more, or specifically, one snotty super sexy topless French teenager (aged 19)who says 'Super Cool' (the working title of the novel)and a whole lot of other shit, though not in the order I have put down here. Also the first paragraph and the last are the same. hmmmmm. clever? I hope so.
