Question for Sloth or McC concerning Happy Mondays

Post by marky »

Someone posted this fascinating item on ebay of these megaphone helmets that the seller claimed had been used in a Happy Mondays promo video. Do either of you know which one that might have been? Look how much money they sold for, too!

If only I'd sold the banjo. They would be mine. You could take them to the pub and have insanely loud conversations while the band was playing. Brilliant. I can just see Marky wearing one on the front row at a Kate Bush concert. "Kate! Kate! Over here!"

Ah, ye bastard, Tonmy. Yeah that's right I said Tonmy. Get used to it. That's your new name, mate.

8)

I like listening to the Runaways so I can pretend I'm in sunny California where they come frum. Yeah ths't right I speeled it FRUM.

The FALL IS (ARE) PLAYING HERE IN MAY.

IT PROBABLY WILL SUCK BUT DO Y OU THINK I WILL NOT GO????

When The Fall comes to town I take the risk they will be crap, I don't care. I will be there.

More about the Runaways later.

I am having a problem with my other computer that is making me sad. I can't do dial up on it right because of XP doesn't go with my ISP they don't like each other. They're like punks and Teddy boys.

And that's why nobody cares. "We're so pretty/oh so pretty/.....uh...we're VACANT!"

On YOU there mister. Buy you another beer.

I SAID JOAN JETT ON YOUR ARSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Truth be told, though Lita Ford is the cutest in the band.
I've got some video footage to prove that, okay?
But never mind, to each his or her own.

This is what happens when Marky moves to a new apartment and doesn't put up enough Marilyn Monroe pictures like usual. He goes a bit nutty.

I tried to get these Marilyn pictures out and hang them up but then I came across these other newspaper articles about two friends of mine, good friends, who died in their early 20's right, when I was the same age. So then I decided to scan these articles into a computer and in the process I forgot to put Marilyn on my wall.

The important thing is the Runaways here. I have an awful lot of CD's of them now, you wouldn't believe my collection now.

Never mind.

The Bollocks.

Nirvana
The Sex Pistols, thank you very much.

Goddamnit I'm gonna bore the crap out of yoose all when I get started tonight.

ALSO this guy from New York who's a DJ that I mentioned before a long time ago on McC's blog newyorkscribbles
made me this gigantic CD of Italo Disco music. I am excited to hear it. I know virtually nothing of that genre.

We're so pretty/oh so pretty/ahhh....

WE'RE VACANT!

Those who will have seen the film 24 Hour Party People will know of a man called Martin Hannett.

I just remembered that on the "other board" there was an entire long thread about Martin Hannett just today when I was at work I saw it and it had a friend of mind posting on it of course and I was like "oh goody I'll have something wonderful to read when I get home tonight" but I haven't read it yet. I just remembered it in fact.

But the most humiliating thing about it was I never knew he produced the New FADS!!!!

(they were actually called the New Fast Automatic Daffodils originally, let's not degrade the genius of that name)

but I didn't KNOW that Hannett had done them and I feel so incredibly ashamed because waaah I thought I was an obsessive enough Martin Hannett fan! I feel so insecure, oh woe is me, and a depressing melodramatic Roxy Music track to you mate.

Oh fuck what is the name of that song that is sooo melodramatic by Roxy Music that I think is so funny where he sings in French? I can't remember the name just now.
Okay I got it. "A Song For Europe" that's it. GOD that is probably my favourite song of theirs.

Anyway, never mind. Rock and roll and bloody FACTORY RECORDS OKAY!!!

do you folks know how thick original FActory Records vinyl was compared to regular cheap major label vinyl? Those suckers were thick! Just take this one 12" here at random...I'll prove it to you. I will put a Factory Record in your hand and you will see how deliciously thick that vinyl was.

That's called being a vinyl fetishist, okay.

Now that we've covered that...don't let me interrupt the flow of discussion here. Please continue what you were doing before I showed up.

May the Stooges be with you.
The road to heaven is paved with Lou Reed.
Punk rock, amen.
