Egocentric, Chauvinistic Pleasures of Life and Other Non-sen

Post by Jack Chiefton »

I'm feeling awfully brutish today, like a chauvinistic redneck probably feels everyday. I don't look like a brute anymore after I shaved my beard, but I'm feeling it. I think I'm going to read "Men without Women" by Ernest Hemingway and drink some whiskey on the rocks and contemplate a fine life without a companion. After that, I believe I'll go down to the Paradise Pub and shoot some pool with the crackheads and talk trash, ignoring the pretty asses that shake shake shake. Just tuck the hard on under the belt and stroll. Last week I was feeling great sympathy for the tough trials of the feminist. But what I've learned is that the true woman is the one that skips her feminist class to smoke pot and engage in dirty lust laiden debauchery. Rebecaa, my great friend from the geology department (who used to be my TA) speaks out against the feminist movement. She always tells me that the ones who shave their heads and look and act in a deliberate manner for the movement are wasting their time. A woman shouldn't have to change her appearance to make a statement, she should intuitivlely know that no dirty man is any better than she is. Damn, she's a great woman. I think she was a little sweet on me at one point but has given up all hope of relations due to my loose tongue, although completely honest, when I turn over to the dark side of intoxicants. "The last thing I want is another relationship" I tell her, usually before and after my dick was in her mouth. "What's wrong with mutual agreeable sex" I ask. She says "nothing" and stares deep into my eyes while I try to pull a phantom tuck without her noticing. Dayum that gets me going. The next 25 minutes are pure bliss and then I "politely" ask her if she would rather sleep on the couch because my bed isn't big enough for the both of us. She complies without a word, only a devilish smile. I can't help but feel like a chauvinist when I kick her out of my bed, especially after she treated me so nice. But I meditate to rid myself of those thoughts and peacefully fall asleep, with a smile on my face.
Intoxicants are another love of mine, as I'm sure many PA people share that same zest, that same passion for a continual state of altered perception. My main problem with booze and drugs? It's seeing all the old pock marked, and bloated figures that seem to float like ghosts in a landscape, you know, the ones that, who seem to can't handle the pounds of pressure that drugs and booze hammer on the brain. These are the people that lost the battle a long time ago with maintaining a solid disposition while adhering to a steafast diet of beer and reefer. Maybe I'm being too judgemental on these people though. Maybe I'm forgetting the first law in anthropological studies, you know, the one about the law of relativity which states that an individual is incapable of passing judgement on a culture or an individual that he or she knows next to nothing about or has never experienced the same "ideological" tendencies of that person or culture. I guess all I'm saying is that I don't want to end up hemmoraging and puking up blood on my mama's carpet when I'm 47 years old due to a lifelong love/hate relationship with booze. You've got to be in love with it in order for it to remain on the level. Booze is like walking a never ending tightrope. It's easy to fall, and fall hard, but if you focus, you just might be able to remain on that tightrope, just steady enough not to fall. I say fuck that AA bullshit. AA is like one of those boarding schools that the U.S. government used to make Indian children attend. It's all about assimilation which is a very very evil entity. Some people were thrusted into this existence for the sole purpose of being a conoiseur of the drink. Not everyone can be white or blue collar working stiffs with a family and a white picket fence, the eccentrics and the non-conformists help balance out the teeter totter of life. Nonetheless it makes for a far more interesting existence. I'm not a cold-hearted, apathetic, mysoginist though, on the contrary. I don't go out of my way to make it known that sometimes I enjoy a drink and a blowjob and then shun the giver away. No, no. It all has to be flowing, grooving in the moment, like a jazz session or a poetry reading, you know? Sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don't. I enjoy making people happy. In fact, it's what keeps me alive. But by making myself happy, I'm able to take that happiness and use it on other people. When I'm drained, I go and make myself happy again with the debauchery. If you happen to exist and are reading this nonsense God, you can rest assure that I'll see you someday. If I'm turned back at the pearly gates, I'll just sneak away and figure out a place to climb the walls when you're not looking.

Law of relativity was Einstein and physics, Law of "relativism" was what I meant. Can you believe I study anthropology among other things? Neither can my close friends.

I like your post, and your friend sounds like a great person to have in bed or out. I agree with her about feminism, or at least I think I do. Recently I felt pretty brow beaten by a girlfriend who thought that women should really take ownership of the word cunt. She gave me this very disappointing book that promised me the etymology of the word cunt, and delivered only personal anecdotes, advice on birth control from a person who terminated three pregnancies, and the opinions of the same three sources over, and over, and over, and oh, well, I gave up. I pretty much think feminism ends up being a divisive tool and who needs another when there are so many other great reasons to hate people and separate ourselves?

Being grateful is good, but being debauched is better. It's women like Bessie Smith who said fuck all, give me a beer, a bitch, and a microphone and I'll do what I want that make me listen. Not Betty Friedan or Gloria Steinem, or even Mary Wollstencraft god bless her 1700's soul.

The Sun Also Rises: Is Brett a bitch – a paper I wrote a long time ago -- Who knows? Who cares? Not me anymore, she'd be fun in bed or out.

I think I read that book, Sarah. Titled 'cunt' by some seattle writer who was so tough that she carried quarters around in a sock to beat off anyone around while going to the grocery store...
given to me by a girl who became vehemently gay after a bad relationship. The only thing I liked about the book was the pippi longstocking references cause those stories are cool for kids.
Man haters crack me up. As much as I'd like to hate men, I can't because I'm just as selfish as anyone, regardless of of what sex they belong to.
I've had girlfriends rake me over worse than any guy could. We all have our own standard of what we think is okay. As long as it works, why fuck with the progam?

that's the one -- and you're right, the pippi references were good. The book just wasn't what I'd thought it would be.

Excellent post, Jack. Man, you go away for a long time and then when you come back, you really come back! Makes me think I spread myself too thin around here.

as a representation of female chauvinism, I have to say that I am more than likely to do the same thing after sleeping with someone.
Now from most of the people I know, I get the impression women doing these things is usually regarded as a defense mechanism.

An"Ill get you first, so you dont get me first" demonstration of the subconcious fear of being used for sex.
But, personally... I dont seem to think it is that way for me. I'm in total agreement with the idea that its all about the ambience of the night.
Where you are going in your thought process is going to change by the minute, and if it involves sex...so be it.
Usually, Im not in the frame of mind to seek out a permanent partner...but sometimes I might fancy the painted picture of suburban life and Ive been known to lead a few "suitors" to believe I was all that they could want in a cupcake froster.
Just to turn around and sneak out of the house at 4am with my panties in my purse thinking of how I will explain my sudden change of heart when they call in the morning.
Dont get me wrong, its not intentional... I think that perhaps I really believe, for a second that that is what I want.... but fickle is as fickle does...

So luckily, what comes around goes around and I am morally redeemed by the same thing happening to me on one of those nights that I might actually like the person genuinely.
Just as Im thinking... "No, I dont want to just rush into this... you are way to wonderful to ruin."
I realize wild sex, is all that Im going to share with this person...
So...to hell with inhibitions then, pull my hair call me names and bite me... Im not giving you my number so if you think of me as some cheap tramp that you can call when you want to get laid 3 weeks from now, it wont hurt my feelings.
Because you cant. And, you mean shit to me besides...

How silly is it for a man or a woman to want what they cannot have....
If you wanna fuck someone, that means to some people, that you think you could love them.
IF you cant seperate the two things... as COMPLETELY unrelated... then you are going to be fucked in the end anyway.

How easy is it to read "Love me" in a girls eyes, after two weeks of knowing her, she looks deeply into your eyes with that look of pure adoration,
before she puts your dick in her mouth.

How easy does that make it... instead to simply close your eyes: Dthinking "just suck it"
See no evil..hear no evil...
It says nothing about knowing.

In the same sense... a guy who comes over everyday after work and starts bringing you gifts and paying way to much attention to what you say... is screaming I WANT LOVE
Well, if you have to look at them after you just shagged their brains out...it might insight guilt... and knowing guilt only lasts as long as it takes to be distracted....
sneaking out on them, or sending them to the couch gives you a bit of time to refresh your mind, focus on you and seperate yourself from responsibility.
Before you have to see them again...
Or listen to the CD they thought you would love.
Or wearing the panties they thought you would be around to wear for them...
or... ~J~

ouch! this thread gives me the creeps. i think it's everybody's responsibility as human beings to be feminists. which doesn't mean we all need to shave our heads. feminism is not about hating men, it's about equality between men and women in the world. and how can anyone be against that?

sarah, no disrespect but nothing could be more untrue than "feminism ends up being a divisive tool". if it wasn't for feminism, the world would be a much more divided place than it is!!

Ingrid,

What you posted was neither unkind nor unfair.

I was not saying that feminism is wrong. I didn't say divisive tools were wrong either. And I don't think anyone would get very far arguing that equality is wrong. It is very true that feminist organizations like NOW are for human rights, and human rights are good. I said feminism is pretty much a divisive tool.

Divisive can mean dissenting. If we were all treated equally there would be no need for dissent. Since we're not, many feminists dissent. There's nothing wrong with dissent.

Divisive can mean disruptive. Feminism has been disruptive – disruption happens when there is dissension. When the result of disruption is good then being divisive is good.

Divisive can also mean separating. It can be used to separate those who think owning the word cunt is important and relevant in pushing all of us toward equality, from those who do not.

A tool is something that people use. Like an ax, some people use it to chop up fire wood and keep their families warm. Some people use it to chop up their families. How the tool is used is up to the person using it.

If feminism is divisive, which I believe it is, it can either be used as a good tool or a bad one.

I am not for the separating aspect of calling myself anything, whether that be feminist, Hispanic, Christian, Muslim, Republican, French, American, Democrat; I'm sick of the name game. Names don't mean anything to some people and everything to others – I'm a person; that is what means something. The other names get confusing. if you are a ___________ then ____________and you must not be a __________if you don't _______ (fill in the blanks with what fits --most come with contingents)

Feminism, if it means the march toward equality for all then good.

Feminism, if it means I have to take a blood soaked sea sponge out in front of a crowded ladies' room and say damn, my cunt is filling up this thing faster than I can rinse it out – then it is not something I'm very excited about.

Some "feminists" use dogmatic rhetoric the same way "Christians" do -- to manipulate other people -- I don't like that.

finally, i had time to read...
Extreme feminists need to hang up their hats and grow out their hair. Enjoy being a woman. Men and women being equal is a physical impossibility. And no group, parade or organization will change that fact. i agree with h. why chnage a good thing?Sure femininity was suppressed until the 20's and sure, it took really strong women to get us to where a women is today. But for you feminists today- what more are you asking for? a women president? and if that's the case youre just diluted giving the present situation.
Hedonistic words are whispered from mouths with smiles on them. Jack, I yearn for more.

hey, all... for me personally, feminism really is the only option, even though i haven't agreed with the views of most of the feminists i've read and talked to. Ingrid's right that it's a human responsibility to at least try to have the ideals that feminism is supposed to have. the trick is, i think women and men don't need to be equal, they already *are* equal. they'll never be the same, but they are already equal. there are just people still out there that need to get with it and realize this fact, so that we can get on with the good stuff.

i think feminism is supposed to be a tool to accomplish this, but it's currently not doing so well. it's seemingly been hijacked halfway through by Brown-educated hair-splitters that have turned it into more of something to write thesis papers about than an actual way of living. maybe i just met some depressing feminists, but i saw a lot of line-toeing and grimness. wasn't there a quote about how if someone couldn't dance, they wanted no part of the revolution? there needs to be more dancing, even if you're hurting, dance. because what the fuck else are we going to do? become the kind of bitter game-playing control freaks that made feminism (and civil rights, and really any movement)necessary? you become what you rebel against. the biggest feminist statement is not shaving your head or dating women, it's a stubborn sense of entitlement to be exactly yourself, whether it's misogynists or feminists who are trying to dictate to ya.

i do appreciate where feminism has got us so far. and i liked the cunt book. i think she played with language well, it's good to see originality. but my feminist wish list will only be fulfilled when men can wear skirts and cry in public, as well as women running companies, etc...sigh. someday.

and who wants to be president anyway? that's the biggest scam of all.

this wasn't directed at anyone. just a free-floating rant. nice to meet you all. your posts have made me happy for several months now.

Welcome V.S.

I think the biggest sign of femminism is underarm hair on women in cocktail dresses. (that's a joke gal) But I love what you said about dancing. Even the Sloth dances (or at least runs in place in discos) and I think it is great.
