We all need punk rock, sometimes

Post by marky »

We've got to have all sorts of diversions of what it means to be punk rock.

Even shoegazing bands from some city in the U.S. in 2005. Yeah that's right I've found a shoegazing band from last year that I like. I think they're from the UK? Actually I think they are indeed from the UK but I have to figure it out first and I'll get back to you. Gimme a sec here.

FUCK FUCK FUCK yes they are British. hahahahah They are from Brighton, isn't that wonderful? That's where Stuart is from.

I thought they were American, I really did. Wow they are really good. I came across them totally by accident they're called Air Formation.

Even though I know no one cares that there was actually a decent shoegazing band coming out of Britain in 2005! Like that happens every day!

God I thought sure they were American, I'm in shock. Am I in 1991 again?

Look it doesn't matter because I'll still bore you with Style Council all night. That's what I'm going to end with for this weekend, Style Council. B-sides and lost tracks, that sort of thing. I've still got about an album's worth of tracks of them that is still new to me!! Which makes me happy. I realized Weller's voice was enough on this stuff. Just to hear him sing like that is fucking great.

But I gotta say I'm pretty happy with Weller's next to last song on his latest album (late 2005) called "Bring Back The Funk (pts 1 & 2)". Yeah that is some great stuff. The old bugger still has it in him if he can just stop trying to be Oasis for awhile. The last song on the album is good, too, called "The Pebble & the Boy".

But remember to shove the disco into your punk rock every day.

Take an oath to the Sex Pistols for no reason.

Weller's done some amazing stuff over the years.
