Belle and Sebastian

Post by Tommy Martyn »

Saw them last night (in Louisville) jolly good time had by all. Highly recommended. Opening act was the new pornographers. The other 5 people I went with wanted to see them. Sadly we went to a restaurant and missed them. For once the band came on at the advertised time.

oh man, what a concert. i have been to lots of good shows in the past few months but only two have been memorable. (firstly, elvis costello who is an old fart but was just spectacular live -- a 150 minute tour de force.)

secondly, b&s. who is like them? do you know an 8 piece band of young nerds who in playing their ten year's repertoire can gobsmack a good thousand (more or less) cool people?

their sound was uncommonly cristalline. numerous fans had driven in from spain (a good 600 miles, no matter) and murdoch accomodated them, asking a certain esther and júlia to come on stage to dance and sing. they could do neither but their joy was infectious and i still feel it now, days later.
