I give up I don't care if you think it's dodgy I don't care if they only did 25% good songs I've decided I must have Style Council records or I'm going to die. I must go out tomorrow in search of Style Council records I need to have them I can't live without them. And can I have the last Jam album too please? I've almost had all Jam albums at one point except for the first and last ones. So I'm owed the last Jam album if I want it. Please. And lots of Style Council records.

I'll beg at every neighborhood door for Style Council records. I've got to have them. I need them. Even if they're mostly bad I have to have them.

Yes, on vinyl. I managed to find all of them, I think, though I passed on the greatest hits. I was really pleased with them, too. Even the 1985 album Internationalists sounded mostly good, though I expected it to be overproduced tripe. Their first EP from 1983 "Introducing...The Style Council" I especially like.
I also now have the last album by The Jam called "The Gift" and I like it too, though I've never been much of a Jam fan.

Regardless of the merit of their work, the Style Council gave us the song title, "Life at a top people's health farm." That would cover about half the stories in USA today or on CNN.

Oh thank god, someone who finally knows what I'm talking about! Yeah that song has been one of my favourites for years and years - Tracey Thorn's vocal version of "The Paris Match". That is on their first album proper. I was going to say that the only thing I can actually find WRONG with their debut EP ("Introducing..." which has about 6 songs) is the fact that it has Paul Weller's version of the song, which absolutely blows compared to Tracey's.

It is all a bit hazy but I think I bought one of them on cassette and one of them on vinyl. I had forgotten that you could get them on cassette.

I do remember Paul Weller louching around with a blue blazer and chinos. Polo shirts and cashmere sweaters. Sad bastard that I am, I still like to dress like that.

Style Council's "Long Hot Summer" is going to continue to run through my brain even in my sleep tonight. That song is too brilliant even for them, I think. "shoo be doo be doo do do wop aaaaahhhhh" (in the real falsetto voice = "aaaahaaaahaaaa") man that is going to go around in my brain all night.

I'm on a huge Wire trip at the moment, I've got it even worse for Wire right now than I do Style Council. I've been a Wire fan for many years but I don't think I've ever really loved them the way I do right now. It's taken me 18 years, but I can finally say I understand their album from 1979 entitled "154". 18 years, I say. And now it all makes sense.

Sometimes, it's all about Style Council. Particularly every single track they did prior to their first album.

Okay so Paul Weller isn't the BEST soul singer in the world, but man...I've really lost my mind over Style Council.

Okay so their first album wasn't that great overall, and even their second was spotty, but there is some stuff sprinkled across their career that is really something else.

I don't care if it's early Charlatans like "Indian Rope" or delicious jazzy instrumentals like Style Council's "Our Favourite Shop". I like it. I like organ sounds in my late 60's funky jazz.

Okay, I'm loathe to bring back this thread again, but I do so only because of what Tommy said earlier. I found this video online of Style Council on Top of The Pops in March 1983 (with someone called Tracie Young, just ignore her) and it made me suddenly remember what Tommy said about how Paul Weller dressed because as soon as I saw how Paul Weller is dressed in this video it immediately clicked because it seems to me anytime I've seen Tommy in person, he's been dressed like that with the jumper (sweater) and all. That was kindof cool because if you'd asked me before I saw it how Tommy dressed I don't think I would have even remembered.

Anyway for anyone interested, here it is, and it's my other favourite song of theirs too - "Speak Like A Child". My only complaint is that the little curly things on the sides of Paul's haircut look daft. What do you guys think? Are those things
cool? I could be wrong.

Also if it keeps stopping in the middle, just keep it on pause until the little grey bar tells you it's finished loading completely.

This morning I woke up and started crying because I love Style Council so much. They even covered Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up" - that was what started me crying.
