Bulletin Board of Bad Behavior

Since I have a lot of free time lately and can get pretty much any album I want I recently downloaded Green Day's new American Idiot.

Green Day (actually named after their habit of smoking pot all day) are a band I don't especially follow or even like, but NME has rated this album really high so I thought I'd check it out.

Well NME can be wrong of course... although I haven't listened to Green Day since 1991's Dookie and am left feeling that even though the lyrics are fucking ace this band has actually slipped musically since 1991 if that's possible.

And what the fuck is up with Billie Joe? How come everyone else in the band looks 45 and he still looks 20?

My opinion... if you like repetitive power chords and 25 year old Sex Pistols cliches then this is the band for you. Still better than Foo Fighters though.

I downloaded an album called Teen Dance Ordinance by a band called A which NME gave an 8.

It is some of the worst crap I have ever heard. It sounds like it was made intentionally bad and I couldn't get past track 3.

It makes the Green Day album sound like the new Sex Pistols and Abba rolled into one.

Anyone who ever tells you downloading an album before buying it should be illegal... tell them Teen Dance Ordinance by a band called A. If they ever heard the album they will be instantly converted.

Oddly ... though not surprisingly ... I disagree. I think 'american idiot' has a lot of originality to it and is one of the better rock albums to come out in a while.

I admit its an okay album, but I think Jello Biafri wrote/influenced the lyrics and that's why they are so good.

And musically speaking their songs have that generic American MTV rock sound to them. Not very punk.

And Billy Joe needs to get a fashion consultant. Wearing a black oxford shirt and skinny red tie all the time is just weird.

What is with bands wearing ties lately? Brandon Flowers looks like a Las Vegas lounge act in that white suit. What ever happened to t-shirts with last night's vomit on them?

And that bunny is gonna give me nightmares.
