Turntables and other stuff

I need some new turntables, but I'm not sure what to buy. First, because the ones I have now are not broken. Theyr'e just large... and really too nice to take to a college campus (this would make our tiny room the party room and there's no room for them)

Is there a resonably priced brand that would be maybe... portable... stackable... something? I also need a new mixer ... something cheaper than my good one.

I don't think my roommate and I can go another semester without turntables but we're really short on cash and space. We already opted for a stero to play our CDs on instead of a TV ... and I think we'll have to invest in ipods because our combined record collections might just fill up the rest of our tiny room.

Well other than recommending some shitty but cute old plastic version, I don't know what to tell you. I wish I myself had a better turntable, but mine has lasted 15 years now, so I can't complain too much, even though there are some things about it I really don't like.

Overshadowing your post, though is your new picture - so psychedelic, maaaan! I DIG IT!

It's like a Hippie Supernova! 8)

lol old and plastic...

and yeah on the icon - I like it. Cause I've gotten ultra e-tarded/rave-tastic lately.

In fact, I've even started smoking again despite that I must be getting old since when THC is involved I need recovery time.

I have a perfect "What had happened was ..." story though that may amuse you all. It'll probably go in the blog cause ... I'm lazy ... and can't think... I'm just perfect.

so I think I found my new turntables I want ...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BU ... e&n=172282

the ION USB Turntable seems like it might be worth it... but of course, I'm not entirely sure.

Promise me you will play very thick vinyl on it, Pixie. That is important. Get one of those new releases called "180 gram vinyl" if you have to.

okay ... but why? lmao

Because you must appreciate the quality of thick vinyl. And you must understand that Factory Records, upon whom the film 24 Hour Party People was based, was crazy enough to press very good quality THICK vinyl for their records.

It a vinyl fetishist thing. Maybe you just wouldn't understand. But I have this reggae record by Keith Hudson, who was the ONLY artist New Order ever covered (well not strictly true, they covered what's his name later) but it was heavy vinyl.

And you just must hold a vinyl record in your hand which is heavy and feel the transforming spiritual moment that can become.

Sloth will now slap me across the head with philosophical arguments.

I dunno I've just never paid attention.

Woohoo for renegade parties that will work outback of his station wagon ...

I'm so excited it's actually very, very sad.

That's right! Past tense even! DEPECHED MODE!

THEY WERE ALL DEPECHED OUT!

Please shoot me before I make any more jokes. Pixie I'm not fit to talk to you now.

Give me about 20 min. I'll be back. I'll even call you if I have to.

PLease stop me now I've got quit mouthing off in this pub. I'm drunk enough to start talking at length. Please keep talking so I don't have to.

Remember Shane McGowan as well.

I'm going to be quiet for quite a while now. Please continue.

I am ... lmao I get off on oversharing.

but really I must start wearing underwear - at least to work. I mean the arab guy has been talking to me all night I'm not sure if it's cause he's drunk, and I let him bring in the five 24 packs ... or if it's cause he can probably see my nipples...

but oh oh oh ... the mixer and everything with the turntables ... I am SO excited. One of my friends just ran up to his room laughing at me.
And speaking of music-nerd ness there is a bob dylan concert here on 4-20.
