Real Player
Real Player
Anyone know how to take a real player file (audio song) and get it onto an iPod?
I have a song on my desktop (real player) that I want to save...(downloaded it from some website) but when I go into ITunes it does not allow me to import the desktop song into the library.
It's this remix of the Orb (little fluffy clouds) that I am dying to be able to play on something other than my computer.

If I'm making any sense, then I haven't made myself clear.
I feel sure there must be such a thing, but I've never heard anything about it. I ran into a similar problem with a particular rare old live New Order track that I couldn't figure out how to convert into anything manageable. Luckily the song in question wasn't very good and had bad sound quality, too, so it's not much of a loss. But yeah sorry I can't help you better.
hmm
yeah..the problem is how to convert a streaming audio from a website....been told that there is some program to do that...but as it's illegal there really is not way to do that on a computer w/out it.
IE-you can not convert a real player file (that originates as streaming from a website) into anything else.
Oh well...

Sound recorders? That record sound, record STREAMS. Yes, there must be such a thing. But what are they called Sloth? Can you name any of them? How do you record a stream? I would really like to know if the technology exists to do that.
Dude if I were you, I would be scouting gemm.com for the vinyl. But that's just me. Is it something that isn't on vinyl? It's this remix of the Orb (little fluffy clouds) that I am dying to be able to play on something other than my computer.
hard to find
I keep checking gemm but nothing so far.
The stream I have is from the producer's own website....
I keep checking ebay/gemm every week which is what I'll continue to do.

Wow, that sucks man. Hey look I just found this site. I'm too inebriated at the moment to make quick sense of it, and there's a lot of information there, but apparently they're called "audio stream rippers/recorders". I'm thinking a person could go to a site like c-net.com or zdnet.com and go to the download pages and look around for some more brands, maybe free ones. That's what I would do if I were you.

Wow! Look at this one! Says it works with Real Audio too. I am shocked. This is very thrilling.

Thanks!
Thanks Marky..some good research.
I feel horrible for doing it, but I went to LimeWire to download the song. I still will buy it on vinyl when I find...as I definately want to support the artist.....but for now it's nice to be able to run the beach and have it on my shuffle.
I don't understand LimeWire-how is this sort of thing able to happen w/out the site shutting down (ala ...shit-whatever that famous free site was then got shut down).
Anyway-I guess vinyl is going out the door. I see more and more DJ's only mix w/CD's. Which I am not against..but I can understand how the older you get the more you want to hold onto the past...I feel like saying 'Vinyl is the only way to go-analog is superior to digital', etc.etc...but in the end you can't fight change.
I wonder what will come after CD's? Will it get smaller and smaller? I mean-there comes a point when size is an issue-people want something tangible to hold when they make a purchase.
