New White Stripes Album Vinyl News

Perhaps McC already knows this but I came across this bit of news tonight so I thought I'd share:

NO WHITE STRIPES LP.....YET
XL have announced that the new White Stripes album "Get Behind Me Satan", due for release in the first week of June, will not be available on LP, at least for the time being. The reason for this is that Jack and Meg have an ambitious project in mind for later in the year.

Once their summer tour dates have been and gone, they hope to go back in to the studio and re-record the album, live in the studio, in one take! The result of this session will be cut for the LP release. First though, Jack and Meg need a little time on the road so that they can perfect the live arrangements of the new material.

It's an interesting concept, and the first time we've heard of different recordings for each format. We just hope the band find the time (and the inclination) to go back in the studio after a busy summer, and not let us vinyl fans down!

All existing pre-orders will be kept, but we won't be taking any more orders until we hear of a definite release date.

I haven't heard the new album yet (but I sure like the way they're dressed on the sleeve). I did hear "Blue Orchid", though and it was a bit too metal sounding and didn't have a great tune, but I liked Jack's falsetto, and I hear the rest of the album consists of a lot of songs that are very different from one another.

Right now I'm listening to The Durutti Column. Which is just as well as I always feel especially 24 Hour Party People-ish when I come to this site.

I wasn't impressed with the sound of "Blue Orchid" really - but I really like the video.

spin me round round like a record baby.

that sucks. I also heard that Jack married a super model on a canoe in Brasil. But a review of the new album went like this: If you are in a rock and roll band and you are not in the White Stripes it sucks to be you.

I got the 7".

I've had the new album for a few weeks. It's pretty good, but doesn't seem to have that magical quality that Elephant did.

Congrats to Jack getting married... but its probably the beginning of the end.

Well I went out and got it today. Played about half of it in the car and I gotta say I find it pretty interesting stuff. I think I expected it all to be like Blue Orchid but it's really not. That review quote is right on, McC - I mean, everyone wants to just do this traditional rock and roll thing these days, but somehow the Stripes get away with it where others just sound stale/canned/overproduced/uninspired. I think their idea for the vinyl is cool, actually, although I realize the downside is people have to wait.

Anyone here heard the new Oasis? I haven't, but I am a bit curious.

I saw them (Oasis) in concert ... which was good ... umm ... but that could have been the pills also. I haven't got the new album but I kind of planned on it.

I heard Oasis tickets are going for $80 these days! Ouch!

Mc and I saw Oasis play at an 18 and under place in Seattle in February of 1995 and it cost $5.00

I admit you would have to pay me to see them in a big American area. Those are the worst concerts... no alcohol, no intimacy, bad acoustics, and apathetic dads with their 14 year old daughters.

I think Sloth is speaking the gospel here. I am honestly very very thankful I didn't see New Order in a stadium.
