New Order have announced dates in New York and Chicago. My valuable New Order contact leads me to believe that they might not do any more in the U.S. besides those two and the two California ones. I have just bought a ticket for one of the California ones. (I dread the idea of the one that is a festival, even though there will be a lot of other great bands there)
Chemical Brothers will be opening at the show I attend, although I can't guarantee the same will be true for New York. The venue for New York is not known yet, either, but the date is May 5.
I'm off to get plane tickets now. Still can't digest this yet. I almost hesitated at first because I thought there might be more dates. I would have been so stupid. Thank GOD for this guy I met in town. Really I do not know where I'd be without him, even though he and I hold very different views about New Order and music.
Okay okay I'll shut up. I've had a few drinks. Be back soon.

Burnt Face and I just watched the video and heard the song-- was it Krafty? I don't know, but I liked the song we heard a lot.

I did hear something about the new Postal Service tour actually from one of my emo-scenester friends. It may actually be legitimate.
There's a Oasis and Jet (combined) show in Chicago in May. I cried when I found out I couldn't go but then I was half eased by knowing I'll be in the UK ... still ...

Don't know if you can access this via the website but Bernard Sumner did a piece in the NYT last Sunday about what he is listening to at the moment. I was interested to learnthat tempation was probably his favourite song by N Order
From NYC scribbles: I always thought that Blue Monday was a reaction to Mrs Thatcher and the Falklands war. Maybe I'm getting muddled but I thought the NME of that year did some corresponding artwork around that theme.

I don't know, the lingo is so mind boggling. I get one of my kids to explain this stuff to me when I get too confused, and he's like, no, no, no, that's indie.
But death cab, that's emo -- jesus.
Regardless of what it's called I hope it's true -- the tour that is.
Mark, true faith is on the American Psycho soundtrack, that's the only way i'd know it from a hole in the ground, however, I do like it.

Well, finally seeing New Order was truly a life-changing experience, I must say. I realized after it was over that I would never really be the same. I've loved them for 20 years, just never thought I'd ever see them live. I got two T-shirts, one of which is a really beautiful dark green one with gold letters of the Ceremony 12" sleeve. Barney danced so much at the gig that he hurt his foot and has been seeing a doctor since, but reports of the Chicago gig Tuesday night lead me to believe he must be doing okay.
Their last date in the U.S. is tonight in New York, but it sold out very quickly (within a half hour I heard) so if you don't have a ticket and you want to go you'd have to look for scalpers.

I know what you mean about waiting along time for these sort of events.
It is with a heavy heart that I face the fact that I will spend my time on this planet never having got a grip of a big pair of silcone boobs. Since these things burst on the scene many years ago I've often wondered what they must feel like. Unlike New Order my wandering hands will not be having a farewell tour.
