New Fiona Apple tracks
has anyone heard the leaked Fiona Apple tracks? Better yet am I the only one who likes her... Well eitherway considering they're free and actually very good (I mean - aside from liking her second album as in thinking it's ok I really really like these tracks) They don't sound like the rest of her work so eitherway if you're interested here's a link to them

Also I just bought the Big in Japan album Who Needs a Heart Anyway? because it possibly has one of the best album covers I've ever seen. The music is ok ... I'm not sure how to describe it but I like the lyrics and again, the CD (which was fairly cheap) is worth owning just for the cover.

the cd can be downloaded from salon.com if you are registered.
the album is pretty interesting, with impressively opulant arrangements. one does notice that FA didn't come up with a lot of new melodies, but musically there is some good substance, despite the dominant piano.
i just wish she would stop complaining about bad relationships and stupid men -- there is limited mileage to that and it gets whiney after a while...

Fiona Apple: Extraordinary Machine
the point about this record marky is not that it is particularly good (although some say it is FA's best yet). the point seems to be that Sony is refusing to market it because it has no single material, and because the music is "difficult".
thus we have something a bit like a replay of the wilco story. big bad music corporations etc etc and the artists have my sympathy.
however, just like it was with wilco, i don't really like the music all too much (but will listen to it for a while, it being free).

I'm glad you said it
I never liked Wilco too much either. I liked heavy Metal Drummer and maybe the Stevie Nicks one, as along as it was Wilco who did the Stevie Nicks one. And I was told that the DVD was brilliant and all that but I watched 10 minutes and thought it was boring as fuck,,, and that was still when they were on drugs. Now that Jeff Tweedy has been to rehab and fired most of the band I will not pay 30 bucks for the new one.
If I want that kind of behavoir I'll stick to Spiritualized thank you. And if you kids don't know who Jason Spaceman is- well he is the cool Tohm Yorke. I know there are extra letters in his name but don't know it it is the 'h' or the 'e' or whatever.

"I liked heavy Metal Drummer"
that is the best.
I was supposed to see Wilco in February, but I got a migraine and just couldn't do a four hour drive after a four hour ride, more verification that I am old.

I feel the same way, guest.
