Edwyn Collins is in hospital. He has suffered a brain hemmo. (How do you spell that word?) Aged 45.

Yes I heard about this. Very sad. Can't say I was much of an OJ fan, though.

A long time ago Marky I asked if you had seen a documentary called "New Order Play at Home." They film it themselves. Basically they hassle Tony Wilson for about half an hour. I think this message must have got lost in the wash because I'm positive you would have replied.

So, have yer seen it our kid?

Oh no. You had to go and mention New Order. Don't you know how hard I have tried to KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT ABOUT NEW ORDER!?!?!?!???!

First of all, they must have played about 8 New Order songs at the George & Dragon. Not like I was in heaven or noticed or anything.

The new New Order album is FABULOUS STUFF. Even better than the last one. And yes they are touring the states yes they are and if I have to fly somewhere to catch them I will will will will. Love them so terribly terribly dearly. Favourite band of all time etc etc etc. Never seen them live in my whole life, either.

Oh...excuse me. You mentioned a documentary. Well as far as that goes, I think you're pulling my leg, you silly bugger. Although I did watch "The New Order Story" video for the first time about a week ago and it really got on my nerves. Very slick American Hollywood production kind of thing. Yuck. And Bono's comments were so....stoopid.

Back in the day (1982/3 I'm guessing) Channel Four, back home in England, commissioned a six part series. The shows were called (Name of band) play at home. On account of the fact that the TV company turned the cameras and stuff over to the band and they did the documentary about themselves. I'm hazy on the full line up of shows, but I do recall one about Level 42 (From the Ise of Wight - brilliant bass player called Mark King) and I'm sure the Cure did one as well. Anyway the last one to be shown - and a fucking classic - was the one done by New Order.

They film Tony Wilson in his bathtub. He is bollock naked. The camera is over the tub, not positioned to one side. He is drinking champagne. Then he says something along the lines of, "this isn't even real champagne. It's lager. Fucking typical factory. Cheap"

I can't make this up. Ask Stuart if he remembers it. Though he is a bit younger than me.

last night some punter came up to me and said, "Play some fuckin' Happy Mondays!" I said, "I am. Wot? You don't know The Egg?" Last night I think I was TOO Marky!!! I played loads off his cd he made me and I was sorta skipping The Only One I know-- instead I played the boy from the north country, skipped love will tear us apart-- instead I played Autosuggestion, skipped almost all oasis classics and played D' yer wanna be a Spaceman and Only gettin' older. of course that was only until the crowd left and then I played Step On.

Haha! Sounds great Tommy! God I bet someone could get a lot of money off that if they had a tape of it now.

Did you really play the whole CD I made you in one night, McC? Gosh that's embarassing. Not a whole lot on that to please the punters I don't suppose!

Oh - about Level 42 - I came across someone when I was in Manchester who was completely whacko over Level 42. Just proves there's a fanatic for almost any band out there, I guess.
