I want a

Post by TragicPixie »

coin-operated boy
sitting on the shelf
he is just a toy
but i turn him on
and he comes to life
automatic joy
that is why a want
a coin-operated boy

made of plastic and elastic
he is rugged and long lasting
who could ever ever ask for more
love without complications galore
many shapes and weights to chose from
i will never leave my bedroom
i will never cry at night again
wrap my arms around him and pretend

coin-operated boy
all the other real
ones that i destroy
cannot hold a candle
to my new boy and i'll
never let him go
and i'll never be alone
and i'll never let him go
and i'll never be alone
go, and i'll never be alone
go, and i'll never be alone
go, and i'll never be alone
go, and i'll never be alone
not with my coin-operated boy

this bridge was written
to make you feel smitten
or with my sad picture of girl getting bitter
or can you extract me
from my plastic fantasy
i didn't think so
but i'm still convinceable
will you persist that after i bet you
a billion dollars that i never love you
and will you persist that after i kiss you
good-bye for the last time
will you keep on trying
to prove it i'm dying
to lose it i'm losing
my confidence
i want it i want it i want it i want it
i want to i want to i want to i want to
i want you i want you i want you i want you

i want a i want a i want a i want a
coin-operated boy

and if i had a star to wish on
or my life i can't imagine
any flesh and blood could be his match
i can even take him in the bath
coin-operated boy
he may not be real
experienced with girls
but i know he feels
like a boy should feel
isn't that the point
that is why i want
a coin-operated boy
with a pretty
coin-operated voice
saying that he loves me
that he's thinking of me
straight and to the point
that is why i want
a coin-operated boy

Obviously, I'm listening to a lot of Dresden Dolls lately. What's with the 80's girlish yet throaty voice ... I'm only jealous because I can't sing. What's everyone else think of the Dresden Dolls? As for myself, I'm not terribly sure I just know I'm in love with this song because as always after leaving my SO I'm very lonely.

It feels strange to post sober ... I've gained like twenty pounds in the past month thanks to the drink and holidays (like you care but eh). Can't wait to get back to the joys of school and my 3am runs. I definately am not looking forward to actually going to classes though - I'm really lazy.
Lie to me, it takes less time to drink you pretty.

High, Tragic Pixie.

Being a recluse and struggling introvert,
Having no real social circle,
Living in a small, remote world,
On a slow dial-up in The Styx...

I miss a lot of good music.

So, I'd heard of The Dresden Dolls, but hadn't heard their work. I went to Morning Becomes Electric - Dresden Dolls Interview

I fucking LOVE this duo even on the first listen. Amanda Palmer is an excellent lyricist and they have a fantastic sense of melody, timing and phrasing.

Now I'm a fan. Thanks so much for mentioning them.

the record goes
from blue to gold
so thank you for all your help
I know you want
to twist and shout
but try to contain yourself

you always struck me as the type to take it lightly
but now you're gonna have to shut your mouth or fight me…

backstabber, backstabber….

you're all alone
you're all over
the popular magazines
will never care
what do you care
you're so much above that scene

but you've got no right to sit there saying I abuse it
when you only sleep with girls who say they like your music

backstabber backstabber backstabber backstabber
backstabber backstabber backstabber backstabber

backstabber! hope grabber!
greedy little fit haver!
god, I feel for you, fool…..
shit lover! off brisher!
jaded bitter joy crusher!
failure has made you so cruel….

so don't tell me how to write
and don't tell me that I'm wrong……
and don't tell me not to reference my songs within my songs

so here we go
the open road
is covered with taco stands
and you can stop
we'll drop you off
and write to you when we land

backstabber backstabber backstabber backstabber
backstabber backstabber backstabber backstabber

backstabber!
backstabber!
backstabber! hope grabber!
greedy little fit haver!
BACKSTABBER!

(that'll teach 'em to talk to critics)

Outstanding in my snotty little book. I think I'm in love. <Puts 'em on The Whiteboard!> Between the acerbic lyrics and clean piano lies the spirit of The Smiths. This is really pop music at its finest.

I wish like hell I could remember where I heard Missed Me -- it seems like it was the background music on the menu section of a DVD I saw this year, but damned if I can recall it.

P.S. Learn to love your laziness, Tragic Pixie. The world needs A LOT more lazy people.:D

I don't think I've heard Dresden Dolls either, but I'll check em out. I've seen their name around and it always reminds me of this very rare 7" single I have by The Fall with a song called "Dresden Dolls" on it, but I realize that has nothing at all to do with anything here!
