I just want everyone here to know that I did not write any of those three posts (in fact, I don't think I've ever posted as a guest), but I'm mighty damn curious who did. Crispy Ambulance are one of my two fave bands in the universe but sadly they don't lend themselves easily to a club atmosphere in most cases. Jilted John is a charming little single - my book here tells me there's a whole album of him but I've never heard it. Salford Jets I didn't much care for.

McC I realize I didn't write you an email to try to make up for the lost message on your blog - I guess I just forgot about it and didn't feel like trying to repeat what I said. I didn't really say much except I wanted to tell you - you know that one DJ you said was going to be at the Manchester thing you went to - Dan Selzer? I was amused to see you had mentioned him because he hangs out on the music freak message board and I've talked with him a couple of times. Most of the time our tastes in music don't converge all that well but he certainly has a lot of Factory knowledge, etc.

How about sad cafe or 10cc. Simply red had a decent record once. The frantic elevators.

He painted Salford's smoky tops
On cardboard boxes from the shops
and parts of Ancoats where I used to play

I'm sure he once walked down our street
'cos he painted kids who had nowt on their feet
An the clothes they wore had all seen better days

Goddamnit yes the Frantic Elevators rule! I'm still trying to get all of their stuff, actually. I knew this guy who was gonna help me with it but he disappeared. I do actually own an original "Voice In The Dark" 7" I'm proud to say. And all three songs are fabulous!

I know Martin Hannett was involved with Sad Cafe. But most people say they were boring as hell so I never tried them.

10cc I haven't got a lot into except I love "Dreadlock Holiday" and when I was a kid I checked out my dad's copy of "How Dare You?" which was one of the weirdest records I've ever heard in my life. I don't mean that in a bad way.

What is this Brian & Michael thing? You've finally stumped me now - do tell!

St. Vincent of O'Reilly - Oh ! I just figured it out! You MEAN VINI REILLY DON'T YOU! If there was a higher power I'd beg it to bless you - I'm pulling out the Durutti Column NOW!

For those regular Paxaciders I can only apologize - the music freak message board is DOWN. It has been for a week and we don't know when it will be better again. Marky can't live without the music freak message board unless he inadvertently bores other people with lots of music talk that baffles them. Martino I know you particularly hate it when threads get off-topic. Just know this is the reason. The music freak message board is down and Marky is suffering severe withdrawals.

Also I just remembered I recently received in the post A Certain Ratio's "The Graveyard & The Ballroom" on CD! I've had it in a very nice blue textured deluxe Factory cassette box for years but I just thought I'd get it on CD eventually and now is the time since Soul Jazz were nice enough to re-release it and I was in the mood to hear it again, which I haven't for quite some time. Produced by Martin Hannett, natch!

If there was a website that only talked about Manchester music I swear I'd never tire of it.

Spherical Objects ring any bells? How about their earlier incarnation called Alternomen Unlimited which I've only recently heard?

McC I'm happy for you both to be doing such a DJ endeavor.
One day I may come to NYC. That will be a really weird thing because when I was younger I used to have dreams about being on the streets of NYC.

McC will you play A Certain Ratio's "Flight" for me just one time? And if you don't want to play that, may I suggest "Do The Du"? Just one time for me?
