well I certainly do feel sympathy -- i taught in a catholic school in LA -- it was great, enlightening, and really strange

The cool thing about it -- vacation days at Mardi Gras -- and we had a parade -- but yuppie types, I guess. The kids were from wealthy families, now I teach poor kids -- I prefer that, but that's where I come from and that's why i prefer it. The coolest thing about the Catholics that I met -- they drink like fucking fish -- and they curse like sailors -- even the nuns, I was like HOLY SHIT!! but these are LA Catholics, and they were conservative in politics and liberal in behavior -- they also had some weird Bronx ? Boston accent that completely baffled me at first. I thought they were some strange colony -- turns out it's just some form of their dialect Oh -- Mary Landreau is a kick ass LA woman -- she was on CNN or CSPAn or some boring ass channel, making it not so boring and knocking my fucking socks off -- great, sexy, southern voice and the devil may care attitude -- oh, that there were more women like her and she's even a little stout.

Sleeping with Republicans -- I've done that. It was good sex, probably because we fought a lot -- something about weird chemistry and opposites i guess. He went on to be rich -- I said no thanks. I still miss him, politics are not the end all be all, I think it was his tolerance of intolerable ignorance or maybe it was the social climbing, or maybe I don't know -- I love him I wish him well, and I don't regret the sex -- it was delicious, of all the things in relationships to regret, that's usually last on my list -- but I guess I could regret it if he and I had been different people -- I mean there was a tremendous amount of friendship and respect.

Tent boys -- you know I've slept in a tent with boys, but that was it, no smoochie doochie

yes, the blue period is sad and pretty -- I like the sketches -- I guess they are called that -- simple and colorful -- if taste was a Rorschach test, hmm that would be interesting.

Sheltered little clones -- I don't know what to say about that --

sex with Republicans is something I rarely do - of course, aisde from his politics and general assholish-ness (I think I made up that word) he had a scary-huge penis; seriously, that's a little vulgar even for me to say but he could like beat someone to death with this thing; I was honestly a little upset by it.

Tent sex is fun I guess. I don't know - I dont really dig the whole camp/nature thing ...

camping / nature -- I can dig it. Oddly enough it was the republican who got me into it -- but we never camped, just hiked, and then there was the military guy, but we never hiked just camped -- so hmm, men, where in the name of god and country can you find a perfect one? Probably the same place you can find the perfect woman -- Neverland

which I'm going to tonight and I'm going to pretend that there is still hope that the perfect man, JD -- will leave his wife and children and come to find me, but I am not going to hold my breath

if this guy would leave his wife and children how in the fuck can he be a perfect guy? At best you should fuck him and forget him. Or maybe just forget him.

Well, I took a women's history class when I was in school about 10 years ago, but it wasn't about the 20th century, and to be honest I wasn't all that wild about it other than the fact that we got to read Virginia Woolf's Orlando (I was surprised that I liked the book even more than the film of it). So the fact that you bring up the difference between what women's attitudes were like in the 20's vs. the 50's is interesting to me as I hadn't ever thought about that difference or why it might be there. I also like watching the films of the teens, 20's and 30's and Louise Brooks and Clara Bow. There was one film I saw that was particularly funny and entertaining by director Ersnt Lubitsch called "So This Is Paris" (1926). For awhile there they didn't really censor films the way they did later on, which is an interesting thing, too - I mean, how could things have been so lax then and so strict in the 50's?

I think it's cool you have those magazines and stuff, too I would be totally enthralled looking at that.

Sara don't feel bad about the Picasso thing - I don't really know a whole lot about him, either. I probably wouldn't have even thought to post about him here if there hadn't been a picture of one of his paintings up on the wall of the house I worked in. But I'm going to post these Picassos in the art section.

I have always wondered -- blow jobs must have always been around. But were they ever talked about in the 20's? I would have loved the roaring 20s. Is it only me who wrote a shit poem called Blow Job?

Mark, I checked them out -- they are great! As is Picasso, even though, I heard he was a real charming jackass with women.

MC, that's a good question.

Tragic, did you have fun last night or what?

Boys and Boys and of course Girls

All cool guys are shit with women. There are plenty of nice 'real cool' guys but they don't go down in history. exception that proves the rule is Paul Newman.

well, really it is women who are best at going down, right?

so it's funny that you should mention Paul Newman, because, and I am not making this up!! When I went to the little ol bookstore a few weeks ago and bought my Shel, who also was a cartoonist for playboy -- did you know that?! My kids got a kick out of that little bit of info. Anyway, there was a Paul Newman poster and I took a pic of it, black and white, feet propped up

yeah - I had fun lol Mr. BFJake is a nifty guy - he made me a little late for spinning but you know; it's all good.

And yeah MC, there were blow jobs in the 20s and people talked about them. I'd kill to have lived in the 20s. One of my great grandmothers left home at 16 to work on the railroad, and ended up doing some crazy shit (and she was still around into her 90s and coherent enought to tell these stories over and over).

On the '20 there's a highly interesting site that has a collection of artifacts on just some strange shit and posters advocating sex ed is in this collection. (Okay, the site in general may be offenseive; I'm just warning you...)
