The Killers - Hot Fuss

Post by marky »

They seem to be the "buzz" band at the moment. I don't think they're too bad, actually. Looked around to find they're actually from Las Vegas! Funny considering the recent travel thread.

Anyone here like them?

they are all the rage here, I think they sound like Interpol. When I voiced my opinion I was almost slapped for my ignorance.

Anyone hear the Bees?

Martino and I have already discussed the Bees, try to keep up. Their second album sucks mightily in my opinion.

The new issue of Magnet magazine says Morrissey actually likes the Killers. He apparently asked to sit in for their rehearsal. They were nervous as hell, of course. I think there's something about the singer's voice I like. It reminds me of the Mancunian band Marion, back in their early days.

Currently I'm listening to some very old unbeatable Fall records though so I'm not really in a position to comment fairly on anything else right now. Album: Hex Endcuction Hour "Who Makes The Nazis", "Hip Priest", etc.

Also I had forgotten that "Hip Priest" was played in the movie "Silence Of The Lambs". I remember nudging my friend in the elbow as we watched it in the theater "oh my god that's the Fall!" and my friend was like "shut up I'm trying to watch" cause that was the scary part of the movie. Ha hah ha.

Well, thanks, jeez.

But what happened to the Bees anyway? They went from being just a little bit more radical than Beta Band to deciding they wanted to sound like late 60's Kinks with Dave Davies singing. Don't they know they're supposed to be blazing a trail forward not backward? They tried SO hard to sound like a 60's band on the new album, I don't understand it. Why?

I like them... well, okay I like their single as I haven't got their album yet. Hopefully it came to my parent's house... don't know at the moment.
