I don't care if they are spoiled rich boys who went to private school in Switzerland. The music is good. And it's all about the music. Fuck 'em if they are cute and steal your girlfriends. I don't care. Girls who date/chase boys in bands is so 1995. My only problem with this great record is the first song and album should have been called This Is It, instead of Is This It. Why leave any lingering doubt. You think Iggy Pop or Lou Reed had any doubt? Of course not, they were too obliterated to notice. Okay I do have one more problem, they also should have fought a little harder to keep the original album cover, the U.K. version. The American cover art looks like some wanky Simple Minds shite criteria1985. Come on man, keep it rockin' 1979!

Hell yeah!!! I borrowed Spiked Rabbit's copy of their new album over a month ago and I think it's one of the best albums that I've listened to lately. The Strokes are %100 Rock and Roll!!!!

I saw the Strokes with Lisa here in Chicago last October right before they got big. It was a fun "get drunk, get rowdy" show. Lisa wouldn't sleep with me afterwards though, that was kinda lame...

I saw a video of theirs, probably on mtv, and I really enjoyed the music and the band's image.

Well, you do get megapoints with me for
mentioning Iggy Pop & Lou Reed in the same sentence regarding the Strokes. I'm okay with
the Strokes. But would choose The Stooges
or early Lou Reed anyday.
Quite interesting you mentioned Simple
Minds record sleeves circa 1985. The
record they did in *1984* had a very coat
of arms looking thing on it and the first
time I ever worked on a computer in junior
high, I painstakingly wrote this graphic
program to construct a replica of the
sleeve and feed this program into the
computer. Computers were primitive, and
it was repetitive work, but I liked the
results. I worked very hard. This was
my school project.
So then soon I realized recently that it
was Easter. And this very same Simple
Minds album your posting had thrown light
on in my memory was the record I played
several times on Easter, because of
this amazing song called "East At Easter".
For a few years there or whatever, I would
pull that album out at Easter to hear that
song. So I'm going about trying to get
that album again. It hasn't been easy.
But yeah, their sleeve for the NEXT album
in 1985 sucked. As did the record...I never
owned it.
I don't like the Strokes sleeve either.

the strokes is cigarette smokin coke snortin beer drinkin stumblin gettin in a fist fight music. i don't like looking at them. the singer has a very sexy voice, but he just kinda looks like a bug eyed dirty little kid. take a look at it at
http://www.thestrokes.com/. its damn good music, though.

They were the SNL musical guests recently, and the drummer wore a Velvet Underground & Nico tee shirt, so that was great. They were great.

Only one a few songs are better. Mostly they are too hard for me and not enough hard-on.
