how to chill properly?

Post by martino »

it's hard to be an old fart. i find it increasingly difficult to chill out.

typically, i spend an evening out drinking smoking and sniffing a few semismall lines, and get home by about five in a splendid condition. but in recent months something has changed: i wake up after two or three hours and spend the rest of the day feeling knackered. and if a pal wants to go drinking again in the evening or if a lady friend (which is not too often) gives me a sexual invitation, it's back to the white lines again. not good at all.

this is annoying. i thought i had mastered the basics of life, including the eat-drink-sleep-run-shit-shower-shave routine, years if not decades ago. and now it seems i have to re-learn it all. perhaps it's my narcophobia, or maybe it is my fourty fucking one years which are telling me to get a grip and stop messing around with the white lines, white stripes and white stains (thanks to mac for this).

still, i wish to ask all you out there who are more knowledgeable (if not more experienced) what's best to do to wind down and get some sleep after some hard ass partying.

my thanks in advance for any advice

it depends on which phase of partying your coming from, how many hours, volumes of alcohol and quantity of smoggies(cigarettes)how many stains?
i am sure sloth would agree that 90% of the time pot is good for curbing habits. i quit smoking and drinking by getting potted after work. i was clean as far as coke and drinking for about a year .
if i am on a bender i will still smoke weed, but use valium (10mg) to fall asleep. i have mixed it with cocaine, but it is not a smart thing.
if you can't sleep after coke, take diphenhydramine (benadryl)25-50 mgs. over the counter not addictive .
of course the best thing would be to quit coke.
it is a life suckers drug and most often people do stupid things on it not to mention the hangover. men over 30 can't get it up.
most important, don't worry you will stop when you are ready.

rosie,

as usual, you know more than just about anybody else i can think of. please tell me: did you have to suffer a lot for all your wisdom and personality or did it come easy?

thanks muchly for the advice. i will try the over-the-counter stuff if it is available locally.

re your questions. an evening out usually starts roundabout 10 pm with a dinner which i will cook or buy. i only smoke about 5-6 cigs an evening and can honestlsy say i do not have an addictive personality. beer is good, vodka too, i used to like red whine but it causes unsightly stains on the teeth. hash is really bad with alcohol - made some really poor decisions under the influence. some of the nicest evenings i have ever had were supported by industrial-strength skunk so i would be the last guy to knock the chronic. however on evenings out, in contrast to time spent with close friends, i like the lively conversations where coke helps and grass doesn't.

what else? getting it up is no problem with coke, actually, in fact i think it helps in the stamina department. and rest assured that i am not worried about the coke, i am just annoyed about what it is doing to my sleep. yeah i know, any sucker with a coke-induced superiority complex says that...

Considering the weekend I just had, you wouldn't want much advice from me. However, I've found the best way to deal with all intoxicants by drinking gallons of water each and every day. A gallon in the morning, a gallon in the afternoon, and one before you go to bed.

Jack C. is right. Drink water even when you don't want to drink water. You must not let your fluid levels get down, while you are partying because partying dehydrates as much as exercising.

Exercise will help you rest very well, too. I find a nice bicycle spin through quite streets, after partying helps me sleep great.

rosie,

upon looking at what i wrote i realise that it does sound like i am poking fun at you.

my mistake. my bad. no intention whatsoever. mea culpa -- and sorry, sweetie.

sometimes it is difficult to write what you feel -- no, what i feel --, without being overly smoothe or ironic. even though i am known to dislike irony.

the fact of the matter is that it is easy to tell that you, as well as some other people here at pax acidus, are something quite special.

i am in awe of the open minds and open hearts in display. here, nine fucking thousand miles or so away, i am surrounded by wonderful people but it is a special experience indeed to find such friendly souls in the middle of the vast internet wasteland.

unfortunately, i am slightly drunk -- spent a super evening with daughter and neighbors -- but i just want to say that i really do feel that you have some kind of special wisdom. to hell to where it came from, was none of my business anyway. sorry again

Martino why not try exercising?

I like swimming but anything that gets the heart rate going is sure to make you feel great again. The other way of curbing your habit is to donate any excess powders to your favorite web site.

I get on my bike and ride it 6-10 times each day. And some of those rides are 5-7 hours; some of those rides are 80 miles. I raise my heart rate a lot. And bicycling is not even work in the sense that work is difficult and no fun. Biking is difficult, but it is the most fantastic activity I've ever performed.

yeah!!!! this is fucking great!!!

i'm gonna tell my secretary to file this under "red letter events"!

ooh: : i run 2-3 hours a week. i go to the gym every 3 days. i play tennis whenever i can. i have been said to be vigorous in bed too, but i don't want to brag, of course.

i can't travel with powder since i lost all my diplomatic protection. i cannot meet and hand over in london because, as a general principle, i only buy in my own territory. but next time you are in germany, if you can spare the time to meet me, you will get some super quality stuff and as much as you can consume in one or two evenings. i owe you!

Rosie, honey!
You left yourself out.
Where would we be without your view and your tap dancing on our porch?
Lost, I say...
