Good god, I can hardly imagine. That's really something.
Still haven't seen the McGowan film, but I'm glad to hear he's still rolling along.

My new obsession is late 70's/early 80's punk poet from Manchester, John Cooper Clarke. I ignored him for years because he appeared on a pretty well-known live compilation of bands ("Short Circuit") alongside Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Fall, etc. and he was pretty boring on his own amongst such other bands. But recently I found out that much of his actual recorded output had him backed by none other than Martin Hannett on bass, synth effects and production (see the 24 Hour Party People film if you're not aware of his genius), Bill Nelson formerly of Be-Bop Deluxe on guitar (been a fan of his solo stuff for many years but never would have imagined him in the same room with Hannett) and Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks. Even Durutti Column guitar maestro the one and only Vini Reilly makes an appearance!! Also, Clarke was involved romantically with Nico for a time. Needless to say, there was a lot of heroin to be had between Clarke, Nico and Hannett. I'm not here to glorify heroin, I find it alarmingly disgusting. But it's perhaps to Clarke's credit that he's the only one of the three still alive today.

In the midst of Clarke's humourous poetic onslaught entitled "Psycle Sluts 1&2" he uses the word "post-Nietzschean". But be careful, there is a version on his own and an original single version with Hannett playing on it. I recommend the Rabid/TJM Punk Singles Compilation.
