That makes perfect sense Chicago is the most boring major metropolitain area I have ever been to. With the exception of the Tiki Bar that Kyle took me to... the place is pretty charmless.

Yeah, here's another case like Baltimore where I feel a bit wary of speaking because I wasn't there very long. But my main impression of Chicago was very old and very dirty. A dirty old man, perhaps?

I hate to be contrary but I quite like Chicago. I had a great new years eve there once. Also had a great wedding party there . It beats the pants off Indianapolis I can tell you.

For the record though, there is no worse downtown in the USA than Detroit. There is nothing there. An English chum of mine was staying at the rencen and decided to go jogging. He got 200 yards out of the hotel and a squad car pulled him over and told him to get indoors before he got shot. That just about sums up downtown.

In all fairness my experience in Chicago is very limited. Plus I consider it an underhanded complement.

I consider only four major cities in America... LA, Chicago, New York, Miami. All the rest seem too small and/or too domestic.

Philly? Detroit? Seattle? San Francisco? Major World cities? Nah I don't think so.

No argument that Detroit is a shithole. I would be scared to go there.

Miami seems a lot bigger and more international than Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta, or Seattle. It's the gateway to South and Central America.

The official stats are below. Miami is right above Seattle in 12th place in the USA. I been to Miami... it seems MUCH bigger than little old Seattle. Probably half the people are there aren't even American citizens and thus not even counted.

Another curious fact in the Seattle Metropolitain area they count Bremerton. Why? Aren't there like 5,000 in Bremerton? Thanks a lot. Why bother?

Well, it sounds like great stuff, Sloth, but I'm not sure you've adequately clarified exactly what these numbers mean just yet.

Chicago isn't so bad, even though it's full of FIBs. Fucking Illionios Bastards. How can you not rate San Fransico? It's the best city on the west coast I think, and one of the best cities in the world. I hate LA. But Sloth likes the new and I like the old, so that might be it. I'll be living in NYC soon. I heard that place is kinda big.

There's absolutely nothing in New York City, except for angry people of every ethnic backround screaming obscenities at each other all day and well into the night. NYC is the place for farmgirls to come to realize their dreams, and end up as strippers if they're lucky. I live about two hours away and after popping down every now and then I want to bash my head in with a brick every time I hear someone moan about how they long to go live in that god-forsaken place. I remember Seattle from living there a couple years ago, and I have no idea why you would want to leave for somewhere else in the US. The only good thing (I don't know if things are this way in Seattle) is the upfront nature of the homeless and the bums. When they ask for money they tell you flat out that they need it to get drunk. That's the vibe of the city.

Let me know when you get there so we can throw eggs at the kids holding signs outside of the MTV studio.

the problem with Seattle is that after 7 or 8 years... if you don't take advantage of the ski and the surf and the cafes and the pubs and the rest of it... that it gets dull as dishwater.

Personally... I love Seattle now that all the wannabe yuppies have cleared out from the dot com bust. It's relatively cheap again... the way it should be and has a nice vibe.

New York is one of the last cities I have visited that I would want to live in. I dislike East Coast people... they are typically loud, stupid, obnoxious, petty, what's to like?

But there are great things about New York too. The energy, the bustle, the fact that if you can make it there you can make it anywhere, the sleaze, the drugs, the international flavor, the entertainment, the proximity to Europe, the book publishing business, the tall buildings, and of course not all New Yorkers are so bad if you compare them to people in Philly or Boston.

I now hate Philly.
