Anybody like them?
I recently downloaded got their whole back catalog on MP3. I heard of them from somewhere (NME?) and decided to check them out. They are indie and easy to listen to. Recommended. Like novocaine for the soul.

Can't say I've heard of them. I did however hear a record the other night that fairly aroused me. I believe it was by the House Painters(?); I need to figure out their exact name because I need that album. Perhaps it was the blissful drunken state I was in that drew me to their sound. Or maybe it was the sticky, green buds that I smoked that enhanced the music. On the contrary, maybe it was the idea of little Simon Rexy Junior's leg bone on a platter, utensils by side, me licking my chops in anticipation. Normally I don't condone canabalism, but I bet that little Rexy is tasty.
The Eels...perhaps it rings a bell, but I think I'm probably mixing them up with this D.C. area band from about 10 years ago that had a similar name? I'll look into it and get back to you.
That would be Red House Painters, Jack and they are/were one hell of a band. They're from San Francisco. It may be their creative peak has now passed (I'm not even sure there will be any more RHP records now), but you'd do well to investigate because even though they have several CD's out, if you went into a store, closed your eyes and picked any one of their CD's at random, you'd most likely come out just fine. The singer seems to have a new band now called Sun Kil Moon...I haven't heard any of that, though.

The Eels are indeed the band I was thinking of. Guy came out of Virginia (my home state and next to D.C.)...I was hearing a lot about them prior to when their first album came out, since I lived there then. But then they apparently moved to L.A. A lot of people were raving about those early singles, but they never made much of an impression on me. I'd have to refamiliarize myself. I'm surprised they're still going, as obviously I don't recall hearing much about them since then.
