DONALD GLAUDE!!!!!!
Oh my God, I got to see Donald Glaude the other night and he was fucking fantastic. Just when I was starting to think raving was dead Donald renewed the faith. God damn he was awesome. Anyway, just wanted to rave about my favorite DJ on the fucking planet. Merry Christmas folks.

I hear what you're saying and I agree with you. I wasn't really talking about rave in the same sense that you are though. I was refering to raves as in the parties themselves. This party was the first one I had been to in a while because I was starting to be really saddened by the current trend in parties in my area. I was just seeing too many people just going to get fucked up, too many people causing drama, or intentionally trying to hurt other people. Rave is something inside you, but when you are in a room filled with a bunch of people like that it's harder to bring it out. I had gotten to the point where I thought I could only experience "rave" in myself outside of the party setting (if that makes any sense at all). Anyway, the point of all this rambling is that what I was really trying to say was that this party showed me that raves are still fun. I guess thats it.

Baudelaire said it best- "in the end drugs only showed me that I am myself, nothing more."

Gotcha on that Rob - we here in the Chi-town area have noticed the same thing about a kind of negativity at some, if not most of the parties recently, and my close group of friends & myself have been discussing this very fact. It's very good to hear though that you have expierienced a good one, and I have a feeling that maybe the recent "darktimes" of raving are once again turning for the better, but it's up to all of us to make sure it stays that way, if it dosen't feel right to you (this is meant for us all) it is your inherent responsibiltity to stand up and voice your concerns, peacefully - Thank you Rob - for sharing the fact that you also have noticed something not quite right of late in the scene - we here I think have all known of it wether spoken or not, and by realizing (observing the expieriment) it we have hopefully started taking steps to change it to make it better!, if you are initiating, for example, someone new to the scene, you need to make sure you thoughly explain what the lifestyle is REALLY about - and that is the best thing we can do now. Ignorance is a disease lurking around every corner, and you must be eternally aware of it, not only to keep from accidentally spreading it - but also to try to transmute that which is already around us.
These are, however, only my personal views & should not be taken for anything more than what they are, we are all indivduals, but there is a place where the many are as one, and a rave is the closest thing on earth that the masses of society can hope to ascend to while they exist in this material world. Peace, love, harmony

Rob,
Not that my understanding of raving is the only one - but as I comprehend it - raving cannot really die because you will always feel it within you - it has become a part of you and that is why "parties" seem to lose their glow after time - because the "older" ravers, some that develop into club kids are starting to realize that the inspiration is yourself, only you feel it very strongly at parties, or, in other words you always have the vibe, but because, knowing you are going to a party you "pysche" yourself up for it, or you get the vibe flowing even before you go. The problem starts when you start thinking that its the party itself that gives it to you, instead of realizing as most of us, in our generation are, starting to learn to amplify our own vibes at all times, becuase the vibe is in itself - in reality your ability to feel your own life force that you are - no matter how wierd it may sound!

Indeed I am sure that Donald Glaude is amazing. I am very excited to hear to see him this spring when he's booked for a party. Sometimes the headliners up here seem to be part of a big dj-recycling program, promoters have about 6-7 "megastar" dj's that are here a lot! I don't believe Mr. Glaude has visited the Northeast at all in the past year or two. There is currently efforts by some of the better prod. crews to provide inexpensive parties with non-recycled dj's at non-arena venues. I've heard a lot about the "scene" dying these past few days. right on. tim

Thanks man..no I haven't read any Rimbaud, but you aren't the first person who has mentioned him to me, I think I will have get my hands on some soon. I've been big into Ginsberg recently and Kerouac of course..I wonder why McCutcheon doesn't care for them?

n9eue9uregdjge- why do you think I don't care for Ginsberg and Jack? I was once tripping on acid in the Grand Canyon (actually on the side of it, not IN) but anyway there were about 8 of us and we were all naked and this girl was reading howl while the camp fire flames glowed off her bare obvious breasts. I was in heaven. A.R. is on the bus for starters. and were you in that Dude movie the Coehn brothers made? lets all go bowling. life is for havin' fun, right? life is so great, man. I'm so happy to be me!!!!!

I want Neal Cassady on the bus sitting next to A.G. smoking a cigar filled with tea, talking 7000 words a minute. We *can* dance! Only now instead of listening to that tenor man blow his top we hear a dj, ahh that magicman, throw his wax in a blender, pour us a stiff drink, and read from his book of groove knowledge. life *IS* about having fun,
BOWLING? heh, ten pin or candlepin? can you handle the big ball? loser buys the pints, i've been partial to new castle lately. groove.
