Tim Gane, the guitarist of Stereolab spent his formative years in an early band called McCarthy who had a song on the famous NME C86 cassette and I'm in heaven listening to this record.

Seriously - and I've not said this yet on the other board - I remember feeling like McCarthy were supposed to take the throne from the recently defunct Smiths. They were the next step up from the Smiths. I am now listening to their vinyl LP "I Am A Wallet"

Wow, "Hyperactive". You know I just dissed that song on the other board a few weeks ago, not remembering that I actually like it. God I feel really weird about that. What made me diss that song? That really confuses me. I bought that 45 back when it was released.

Oh hell, yeah, its all good! I just put the Flat Earth on the same CD as the Golden Age of Wireless. I am now listening to The Flat Earth album for the first time in AGES.
