Official announcement

Last night, Tommy Martyn was pleasantly surprised to find his dick welcomed into a mouth and a vagina. General levels of satisfaction were expressed and a consensus reached about repeating the endeavour. Apparently, the planet is spinning out of control and the end times are upon us. I wish I could ...

Marky,

I couldn't help noticing that ANTHONY WILSON has a show on BBC radio Manchester at the moment where he talks about stuff other than pop music. Is Tony for music and Anthony for the other stuff?

FYI I used to see Germaine Greer all the time at college. She was probably in her 50's then. She had great legs. She used to wear short skirts. Perversely, she had nothing to to do with the politics lot. She was (still is as far as I know) part of the English faculty. At college I got involved with ...

I've been on a world tour of England, Ireland and Scotland. I caught up on all branches of the family (I'm one of five) but mostly I researched the rock novella/SF fantasy that I've loosely based on conversations with Marky. Seems like everyone has weighed in here. Obviously there is no right or wro...

Americans don't watch it because... it's low scoring.....like hockey there's not much contact....like basketball only white people participate....like nascar (apologies to Sloth but lots of folk call it a sport -especially spons...

In my day it used to be called the magic sponge, which was a sponge dropped into a bucket of ice water. Rugby League is a beast of a different stripe. You go into it knowing you are going to get hurt. You win by hurting your opponents more than they hurt you. Last year my best friend at home was sat...

Why we watch football.

Thomas Kenneally (the fella who wrote Schindler's Ark, on which the movie Schindler's List was based) once described my game; rugby league as, "the grand opera of the proletariat." Watching the tears of joy and agony today, I couldn't get the phrase out of my head. As much as I enjoy Argen...

There is a guy on the Guardian podcast who says that he has always had sneaky feeling that it will be a Germany - England final. Anybody else had gut instincts that have nothing to do with actual form or reputation? McC, are France now good? Who would back against lucky Italy? How great would Englan...

Marky, when I saw a post of yours that began with "19 hours. Jesus!" I thought you were going on to say that it was one hour longer thatn Martin Hannet took to mix the drum track on "She's lost control." Anyway, I've always liked people, congratulations and good luck with your ne...

It's just the logistics. I fly out of Cincinnati and into London with the kids. I clear customs and schlep them all the way over to Richmond from Gatwick. My next flight is to Scotland the next morning (sans kids - to see my sister). I might as well crash at the old ladies place. It's cheaper and we...
